gopackgo Posted April 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Hi, We'll be on the Mariner in June in Alaska. I have read that there are no formal nights on this cruise. But, are there informal nights? My husband wants to know if he will need to bring a sport coat along. Or are all the evenings considered country club casual? Even so, do most of the men wear jackets to dinner most of the evenings anyway? Thanks, Ginny
Rare wineasmusic Posted April 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2004 We did Alaska on Mariner 2 years ago. I wore a sport coat about half the nights. I was not alone. I guess it was about 50% with, 50% without. No requirement to bring it. You will not stand out. I always like to dress a little for dinner so that's why I do it. Especially if you want to eat in Signatures, the fancy restaurant, it feels more confortable with a sport coat.
dougburns Posted April 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2004 I believe Signatures is always informal at a minimum; ie, coat with or without tie.
Curly-Q Posted April 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Sport coats/jackets are great for the men; but how about for the ladies, what do they wear for dinner in the main dining and Signatures? And what's considered "country club casual?" Thanks!
Kathy Z Posted April 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2004 My husband also took a sports coat on the Mariner to Alaska. He wore it both nights that we ate in Signatures.
Ngaire Posted April 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2004 The ladies can get away with almost anything. I live in the Chicos travel clothes whether it is a casual or informal night does not matter. Just a nice pant suit, pants with a twinset or top or a dress is always appropriate.
gopackgo Posted April 4, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Thanks everyone for your input. I forgot about Signatures. And Ngaire, you are right about Chico's. I love their travelers clothes line, also. Especially the expandable waistbands! Ginny
