Scouse cruiser Posted July 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Hello all, we are sailing with Princess for the first time, Sapphire Far East cruise September 3rd. We have booked an accessible cabin, as our son is disabled. Can anyone help with information on these cabins, compared with R.C.I. For example, we have sailed with them on numerous occasions and they always look after us very well. Casey12 Posted July 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2014 We were upgraded to one once. There is more room in the cabin and the bathroom is huge and allows space for a wheel chair to be wheeled into the room. Sometimes there are water issues in the bathroom and we had to use towels often on the floor as water goes all over the floor. Not a big issue but something we noticed. If you book a balcony there is a good ramp from the cabin into the balcony. Sorry can't compare to RCCL's cabins. If your son is in a wheel chair --there is plenty of space to move around the cabin. Not sure what category you are booked in, but Sapphire has four huge inside accessibles on Emerald Deck. One is mid forward, and three are aft. You can see them in the deck plan. They are much larger than accessibles on Royal Caribbean. In general, I think the other accessible cabins on Princess seem slightly smaller than those on Royal Caribbean, but they are very conveniently laid out. However they do not have the automatic doors that RC has. Edited July 20, 2014 by San Diego Ellie
SadieN Posted July 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Also ask on the Disabled Cruisers board.
dorisis Posted July 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Princess does not have the automatic doors. We ask the steward for a door stopper. Really not much difference between the 2 ships.
