Tipping ?

is there a certain protocol regarding tipping on a snorkel or dive boat?

When I wrote for a quote regarding a snorkel tour on another island I was told the price was a certain amount and that did not include the tip to the captain of the boat. The email stated that it is customary to tip a dive boat captain a certain amount to acknowledge his skill.

We have a snorkle tour scheduled, and I wanted to make sure if there is a certain protocol regarding tipping, that we follow it.

Usually the captain or helpers will help you off the boat, and at that time you can hand them the tip. We usually tip a couple dollars depending on the level of service.

On our Nativeway Stingray Sandbar excursion, the helpers swam down and pulled up conch and shared with us (he must have brought up half a dozen, I think he was taking them home for dinner!) We tipped him $5 because he was so kind and helpful.
