UBP Questions

Pre-ordering online the cost will be $54 per day plus 15% gratuity. There is no VAT charge. The total charge would be $434.70 for a 7 day cruise.

The drinks you choose from are $10 and under.

There is no tax on board the ship.

If you did not have the UBP and you were to order the drinks individually you would be charged the cost of the drink plus a 15% gratuity as well.

Hope that helps explain it a little better.

There us IVA tax added if bought on the ship sailing from certain destinations, mainly Spain and Italy.

If UBP bought prior to sailing then IVA tax will not be added.

Summary Of IVA (VAT) Tax Amounts

Spanish 10% IVA tax is applicable to all bar purchases, select dining cover charges and room service charges when in Spanish waters only.

Spanish 21% IVA tax is applicable to purchases made in the on board shops, photo gallery and products purchased in the spa (excluding treatments and services) when the cruise starts from a Spanish port.

An Italian 22% IVA tax is applicable to purchases made in the on board shops, photo gallery and products purchased in the spa (excluding treatments and services) when the cruise starts from an Italian port.

If you buy onboard it's $59 per day + 15% grats + any applicable VAT (but as you are on Getaway then that's 0 it's mainly European sailings)

Sorry, I should have been more clear when I said there was no VAT and why.

Cruising in the caribbean does not incur this tax. It is incurred on European sailings where the ship does not port outside the EU. It can also be charged while a ship docks in certain EU member ports, even if the itinerary calls for a stop outside.

Thanks to the above posters who helped to clarify.
