johnnypiano Posted July 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Just happened to look at MarineTraffic and Breakaway appears to be heading back toward New Jersey. Current course is 292 (NW) and she has sped up from her usual 12-13 knots to nearly 20 knots. Any word as to why?

Winston Wolf Posted July 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Has to be a med emergency. They've increased speed from 12 knots to 19 knots as they head back. Edited July 28, 2014 by Winston Wolf
johnnypiano Posted July 28, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Does the Coast Guard in Atlantic City broadcast their radio transmissions? It would be interesting to listen in.
jrm116 Posted July 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Hmmm. They wouldn't go all the way back to NYC would they?
johnnypiano Posted July 28, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Hmmm. They wouldn't go all the way back to NYC would they? Not for a medical emergency. Looks like they're heading towards Atlantic City. They just need to get close enough to be in range of the helicopter that will go to the Breakaway to pick up the patient. LrgPizza Posted July 28, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 28, 2014 Up on the sports court they also have a place for a helicopter to drop a winch, so we might not see anything on the bow.
meatball_nyc Posted July 28, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Good point. Edit: there are two crew members in orange on her bow now. ~Robin Every Day at Sea is a Great Day Edited July 28, 2014 by meatball_nyc
