funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Like I said earlier, the ship was still fairly empty. Love it! Didn't have to fight through any crowds and could take pictures. We found a place to eat our lunch - inside, in the air conditioning. BuzzBuzzen Posted July 31, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I am really enjoying your review and photos especially. Shame about the slow start at the car parking but the ship photos are great. I must compliment you on your manners too , lovely to see. Cheers, Buzz.
funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) After we ate our lunch, we were free to go about exploring. I was anxious to see the ship. I really liked the décor, the white columns, and the sitting areas. Here is the Majestic Bar, Deck 9 aft. This is a pass-through area to the Forum Lounge (where the comedy is held). If you pass through the Forum Lounge, that will take you directly to Serenity Deck, where we spent a lot of our time for the next several days. Heading forward on Deck 9, you pass by the shops. and the other public spaces Inside the dance club Edited July 31, 2014 by funinthesun1964

funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #32 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) A sitting area along the public spaces on deck 9. There were several spaces like this to sit and people watch, relax, whatever. We sat along here on a couple of occasions. The coffee bar: (cannot comment as I didn't get anything from here, but saw the normal sweet stuff in the case) Inside Cats Lounge: More of the sitting area Edited July 31, 2014 by funinthesun1964
funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #33 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) At the end of the little walkway here on deck 9, you come to the taste bar. We enjoyed the taste bar on a couple of occasions. If you took a left right before the taste bar, there is the casino. If you continued on through the right side of the picture, you went on through to the main theater. funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I didn't really care for the elevator areas, in terms of looks. My husband also commented later in the week that he didn't care for the blue "corrugated" areas on the walls near the elevators Back outside to look at the pool area! funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #38 Share Posted July 31, 2014 The rooms were ready slightly before 1:30, we went to find our cabin. We were on Riviera Deck, deck 4. We were almost completely forward, we had room R20, a porthole. He wondered if you could close it.... The room was fine. The size seemed a bit smaller at first compared to other inside rooms?? but was fine for the two of use. The bathroom also seemed to be smaller, and I noticed that there was not any counter space around the sink as I have had with other ships. Carried on just fine though. funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #39 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Coming out of our room and looking left. and right. and left again? I was glad to get rid of our carry-on items and we went back out to the deck. We reached Serenity deck. I looked out and spotted some dogs. They were clearly clocked in and ready to work. Bless their hearts, they were happy to be working.

funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #42 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We were kicked out of Serenity after a while because it was time to go to the muster drill. We went through the door that leads to the Forum Lounge, then proceeded to our muster station, A, which was all the way forward in the theater (Universe Lounge). We went in, had a seat, and listened to the people presenting. Afterwards, we were led up one floor and outside to the deck space for our group. This is a necessary evil. Finally, over and we headed back out to serenity for sail away. Our luggage had arrived. We unpacked and were done with that! Later, we went to the Taste bar and enjoyed the sample, along with the special in that area for the night, the blue margarita.

funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #44 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We went to the liquor tasting. This is always on the first night and we usually skip out, but this time we drove to port and were planning on buying. We knew we wanted Sheridan's for sure. We ended up tasting and liking the Amarula, so we purchased that also. We paid $37 for both bottles (1 ea. of Sheridan's and Amarula). The price is the same throughout the week, but the advantage is you can sample the liquor if you are not sure if you will like them! Here is the line for the tasting: While we were there, we were give 2 raffle tickets for a drawing which was to be held at 9 pm. Our dinner was at 8:15, so we didn't think we could attend. We went on to dinner and met our wait team, Head Waiter Glen, and his assistants Raymond and Joseph. They were very efficient. I was disappointed initially that we were given a table for two. It appeared as though we had been just stuffed back in between two larger round tables. When I saw the arrangement, I thought, oh no, we will be the "leftovers". This had happened to me on another cruise. But to my surprise the wait team was very efficient and we were out of the dining room in 45 minutes. I'm not sure if I mentioned this, we booked this one week before sailing. I figured we would get stuck with late dining. We are not fond of it, but because we had booked at a late date, this is what tends to be left. So I was not surprised when I found out our assignment. I do normally like to sit with and meet others. It all worked out fine though. We really did like our wait staff and I did remember to get a photo of them on the last night. Since we did get out of the dining room so quickly, we did end up going back to the location where the drawing was to be held. It would have been no big deal if we would have missed it, lol. They raffled off a woman's hat, some costume jewelry, a bracelet and maybe something that was gold. It was also a big sales pitch for their products. funinthesun1964 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #46 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We popped in to the Universe Lounge to see if it was the same old Welcome Aboard show. it was advertised Welcome Aboard in the Fun Times, but to my surprise, we entered and it was "The Brits". hmm. We didn't stay long. I am not a fan of shows, and I really do miss the live band in here. We popped in the piano bar, but didn't stay there either. The guy was decent, but we just weren't feeling it. We ended up at the comedy club, and enjoyed. We went upstairs to see if anything was going on. Having had late dinner, we did not get any late night snacks on this cruise! We gave up and went to bed around midnight. Goodnight and I'll be back tomorrow. :p
