We are new to Celebrity and have signed up for Select Dining for our March 2015 cruise. How does one make reservations for Select Dining? Have searched the website and see no links to reservations. Emailed Celebrity and have had no response. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Insley,

We generally choose an assigned dining time, so I'm not an expert on Select Dining. However, I located the following information from Celebrity's website. Hope this is helpful ! :

http://www.celebritycruises.com/onboard-celebrity/cruise-restaurants-main-dining#top

Celebrity Select Dining

If you choose Celebrity Select Dining, you will still be seated in the ship's main restaurant, order from the same dinner menu, and enjoy the same exemplary service, but with more flexibility of timing. Choose this option when booking your cruise and you can make reservations day by day pre-cruise, reserve once onboard, or simply come to the dining room whenever you'd like to have dinner.

Celebrity Select Main Dining reservations can be made online up to four days prior to sailing, or once onboard with the Maitre d'. Subject to availability. Gratuities must be prepaid in order to participate in Select Dining. Only groups of 20 or less can be seated at one time.

Hi

there are 2 ways to do it

1) Go into your reservation and choose Cruise extras

Select dining and then click select dining

CLick on the names of your party and press add to cart

THen pick the day and time you want

Then redo for each one you want

2) On your view reservation it will say dining - select - next to it is a link button that takes you to no 1

On our recent Eclipse cruise we did not make any reservations, and walked straight in for 2 weeks. There was a barrier line for walk in & reservations and nobody ever used the 2 lines. We always wanted a large table (8/10) so sometimes waited at the table for others to come. It was our first time doing unfixed dining, and we loved it! meeting different people every night from all over the world was fantastic, and it brushed up my 17 year old son's social skills no end.

We did select on Solstice for our first ever cruise in 2013. Loved the convenience of turning up when it suited us and never had to wait more that 3 -5 minutes max and often no wait at all. Sometimes we had a table for two (if that's what we wanted) but most times we said we did not mind how many were seated at our table and we loved meeting a variety of people and all ages around the world. We did try to book on board by phoning the reservation line from our cabin, but no-one was ever there to answer the phone - However, we realised we never needed that anyway because we never had to wait (or for long) for a table when we turned up. Select Dining with Celebrity means you will likely be seated upstairs in the MDR. We have booked Select again on our Feb/Mar 2015 cruise.

Thank you everyone for you help. Based on our experiences with My Time on RCI (where the maitre de was constantly prodding us to make reservations!) we thought it might be the same circumstances. Looks like it might really be any time "in spirit." We will give it a try without reservations.

We had a great Maitre De on our cruise who suggested matching us up with another B2B couple and another couple on our leg that were similar ages. We agreed and loved meeting them and decided to meet again the next night as one table. It was really neat. But after that DH and I decided to wing it and be surprised by who we dined with next. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and a husband and wife (from Florida on our Australia cruise) that honestly looked looked like Liza Minnelli and Danny DeVito! - I kid you not!!!:).... actually, I am going to start a thread - who have you dined with that looks like a well known celebrity.....(hope that hasn't been a thread hashed to death before....)
