Specifically Buenos Aires, Valparaiso and Santiago..

Are most stores, museums and attractions open on Sundays?

In Buenos Aires, most museums, attractions and restaurants are open on Sundays. Several of the major Ferias (outdoor markets) only operate on Sundays, particularly the Feria in San Telmo. The Market in Recoleta operates throughout the weekend.

If you are looking for clusters of activities for the day, the Museum of Fine Arts (Bellas Artes), the Museum of Latin American Art (Malba) , the Recoleta Cemetery (where Evita is buried) and the Feria de Recoleta are all clustered together.

The museum of decorative arts is also nearby and is open on Sundays most of the year but closed during Dec and Jan.

The Evita museum is nearby in Palermo (a short cab ride away) and is open on Sundays.

Both MALBA and the Evita Museum have good cafes for lunch, or you may prefer one of the open air restaurants in Recoleta, along Junin adjacent to the Plaza/Cemetary. If you are not interested in sit down meal, grab a choripan (chorizo sausage in a crispy bun) from one of the carts. As an alternative to grabbing a Coke, try a Paseo de Los Toros Pomelo soft drink (grapefruit soda).
