jimbo23 Posted August 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2005 Does anyone know if the Jewel will have a self serve laundry? I did see something early on that said that there was,but more recently I have seen a post that said that there is no self serve ,only the usual laundry service from the stateroom via your steward. we sail in three weeks and there is nothing on the docs to indicate otherwise Jim
Goldryder Posted August 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2005 I found a laundry on deck 11 starboard midships, not sure if it was open to passengers, although it didn't say it wasn't either. Best ask when aboard.
swmrgrl Posted August 12, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted August 12, 2005 I am assuming that it would be for passengers since this is a passenger floor. If I remember correctly, the Dawn had laundry facilities in the same area. You would think a laundry area would be available, since they don't want passengers bringing irons on board. Not all people want to pay the high prices to get laundry done or pay for their clothes to be pressed.
seawise Posted August 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2005 There is a laundry on deck 10 aft of cabin 10081, it has irons, ironing board, washing machines and dryers. Regards Chris Norwegian Jewel - 08.06.05 to 08.10.
Shore Girl Posted August 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2005 The Jewel does have 3 laundry rooms available- decks 9, 10, & 11. Washers, dryers & irons available for passenger use.

Not all people want to pay the high prices to get laundry done or pay for their clothes to be pressed. Unfortunately, this logic doesn't hold true. It should but it doesn't. There are many cruise ships that don't have self-service laundry rooms.
IchmaelJ Posted August 20, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2005 Is there a charge to use the self-service laundry, or do we need to lug quarters with us? Also, is detergent provided? Thanks!

Washers and dryers are free. You do need those quaters for detergent $1 or bring your own.
dosi Posted August 20, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2005 I always prefill several small zip lock bags with a measurement of dry laundry soap in each bag. I also pack the corresponding amount of dryer sheets and a roll of quarters. I put all of this in a larger ziplock and place it in my laundry bag. Ready to do laundry in a moment's notice!!!
