scuba in Fiji and New Caledonia?

Hello--I'll be taking a cross-Pacific cruise in a few weeks and am frustrated trying to find information about dive operators in Fiji and New Caledonia that can accommodate us during our brief stay on the islands. Many shops are either too far away or don't seem to be available for the times/days we need. Any suggestions about either would be appreciated. In particular, too many shops seem too far from the port at Lautoka, Fiji and there just isn't much info on the internet about diving New Caledonia to know if it's even worth doing. Thanks for ANY help!

We're diving in Suva and I made that contact on Scubaboard. I really tried to set something up for New Caledonia, but all the dive boats leave at 8 am and we don't get in until 9 am. So, my rollcall group has a private tour to Escapade Island for some beach time.

My boat doesn't arrive until 10am--so it looks like I'm stuck like you!

If the ship stops at Isle of Pines or Lifou you wii enjoy scuba diving there especially Isle of Pines.

If your ship has an excursion to Amadee Island there is scuba available there. On our cruise the weather cancelled this excursion and we went to Duck Island instead for some decent snorkeling, if you go to Duck Island there is no reason to book in advance. At the pier there are vendors selling the tour which includes the bus to the water taxi for the 5 minute ride to the island

 

Chairs and umbrellas available for rent on the island. A lot of broken coral on the beach so bring water shoes.
