callajl Posted August 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2005 My parents are going to be taking their 1st cruise next November on Princess. I really want to do something nice for them- like an onboard credit, not really a gift. Does Princess have anything like this that I can prepurchase for them and have it waiting for them when they arrive? If so, who do I contact?? calikak Posted August 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2005 Yes! Call 1-800-PRINCESS. Have their names, the name of the ship they're going on, and the date that their ship sails. It's also handy to have their booking # (a 6-digit combo of letters and numbers), but it's OK if you don't.
Iamthesea Posted August 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2005 http://www.princess.com/onboard/sendagift/ I went here to order something for my parents. I was also wondering if there was a place on the ship where one could purchase flowers for special occasions rather than ordering ahead of time? callajl Posted August 12, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted August 12, 2005 Thanks, I had gone to the send a gift page on the Princess site but wanted something like an onboard credit or drink certificates. I might do a photo or two though.

BBomberMom Posted August 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 17, 2005 You can purchase onboard credit or shore excursion credit from Princess -- it is in the "cruise answer book" but, for whatever reason, doesn't show up in the on-line version. Shore Excursion $25 -- Item #004 $50 -- Item #005 $100 --Item #006 Onboard Credit $25 -- Item #001 $50 -- Item #002 $100-- Item #003 Hope your parents have a great time!:)
cruzinchris Posted August 17, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 17, 2005 I was also wondering if there was a place on the ship where one could purchase flowers for special occasions rather than ordering ahead of time? There is a flower stand in the atrium that offers corsages, bud vases, long-stem roses, tropical plants, etc. It is always open for formal nights; I'm not sure about other times. Rare sunluva7 Posted August 18, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2005 You are very thoughtful! It was our anniversary and my husband's birthday on the CB last week, and our daughters got us shipboard credits for our anniversary and casino credits for my husband's birthday. They are wonderful gifts because those onboard expenses really add up. Our younger daughters even went to the gift shop on their own and got us a lovely Princess photo album so we can fondly look back on our cruise. :)
callajl Posted August 18, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted August 18, 2005 My parents have never cruised before and my family cruises yearly. We have tried and tried to talk them into doing it with us but my dad was on the Essex in the Navy and said he had enough cruising! I am not sure my mom would enjoy the spa treatments and I know my dad won't gamble that is why I decided on a $50 credit and a purchase of 1 8x10 photo. They are actually cruising with a large group of friends for a birthday. I am just so nervous that they won't enjoy it. We would love for them to cruise with us and maybe that will happen when we cruise Alaska in two years! Thanks for all the tips and well wishes! You need to switch the gifts around and give your mother casino credit. My Dad doesn't gamble, but my Mom loves to play the slots. Give your Dad the spa treatment. I convinced my Dad to get a massage for his back and he gets one every cruise now. :D I'm sure your parents will enjoy themselves.
Love Cruis'n Posted August 18, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 18, 2005 I sent my folks on a cruise for their 50th. I did not want them to put their hand in their pocket for anything, so I worked with my TA and got them ship board credits, etc. I suggest you ask your TA for some help. They may also come up with some interesting ideas. :)
