Duoro River water levels

The river levels are very unpredictable. You will be able to enjoy yourself if you are flexible. The ship constantly readjusts the itinerary based on river and lock conditions. We were on Viking and the three buses that accompany each ship allow you to see almost everything that is promised. But sometimes the bus meets the ship at a different location and time that was originally scheduled. For the two cruises before ours in April, the authorities closed the river for navigation and the ship remained mostly in port.

These river conditions are beyond the ship's control. Taking any river cruise is a bit of a gamble.

Best wishes and hope you enjoy your Douro River cruise.

We are doing the three days prior in Lisbon --- one day extra on our own.

After the cruise we are going to Paris and Normandy for 10 days.

Barcelona is a great city. You can easily spend 3 days there. It is one of our favorite cities in Europe.
