IdRatherBCruisin Posted August 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2014 Booked tubing excursion in Jamaica and am wondering if we need to wear water shoes. Did this excursion about years ago and can't remember. Thanks.
dttampa Posted August 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2014 I have done this twice and loved it. I, and everyone in my group wore water shoes. The people working there went barefoot. So you could be okay, but who wants to ruin their trip by stepping on a sharp rock, broken glass or other hidden sharp object? I don't like to wear them, but you really should. IdRatherBCruisin Posted August 24, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks...this will be our second time for tubing also. Loved it the first time. But, you are right....best go get the water shoes!
TXGalAJ Posted August 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2014 When we did tubing in May through a RCI excursion we were required to have water shoes. If you didn't have them you had to buy them.
IAMGPW Posted September 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2014 I am wondering about the tubing. Is a really fast river. I am on a cruise with my young daughter who wants to do this, but, I am a little nervous
mrsfuzzmo Posted September 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Generally the tubing is pretty calm. Many people take their kids. As far as water shoes go, we always just buy Keens or something like that. This way you have a really decent pair of shoes for any kind of excursion, hiking, water, zip lines, ATVs etc. They are also great for walking around town! There are all kinds of "sport sandals" out there that will work. You don't need specific "water shoes" if you know what I mean.
IdRatherBCruisin Posted September 9, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Thanks for all of your feedback! Last time we went on this excursion, we loved it. Very relaxing and beautiful floating through the jungle. Don't remember any rough water or danger. Our new excursion includes Bamboo Beach AI following tubing. We are looking forward to that also :)

There are a lot of tours that bundle river tubing and dunn's river falls as well.

IdRatherBCruisin Posted September 16, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted September 16, 2014 I don't remember it being rough at all. Anyone had any rough waters????
mrsfuzzmo Posted September 17, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 17, 2014 I believe the Rio Bueno River (Nearer to Montego Bay) has more of a "white water rafting" type of experience. If you go to the White River in Ocho Rios it's usually calm and a nice float down the river. I do not beleive you will wear helmets on the White River tours. IdRatherBCruisin Posted September 22, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Maybe false advertising? I don't remember it being rough at all. My only concern is how cold will the water be in December.
