basilh Posted August 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2005 Looking for tips on the best way to carry my card - most of the time I don't have any pockets........anyone?
Barefoot_Pirate Posted August 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2005 We always attach to a lanyard. The purser's office will punch a hole in it for you.
Driftwoodgal Posted August 13, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I always carry mine on a Lanyard around my neck, unless I am going to the dinner and then it is my purse. I got my lanyard from Target or Office Depot. Have the Guest Relations punch a hole in your card for you. You have to be careful not to punch it where the barcode is. One other tip make sure you keep it away from electronic items as it can mess up your card.
Aleciajoyful1 Posted August 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2005 On the Brilliance in May I found a logo lanyard for sale in the ships giftship that had a pocket the seapass slipped into. No hole needed to be punched in the sea pass. The price was only $3.50.
ladylikes2cruise Posted August 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2005 or buy one of those plastic springee keychains, that you can put on your wrist. got mine at a dollar store. quick to get on and off for your purchases. lanyards are neat, but a pain in the butt when trying to get them off over my head when wearing sunhat/sunglasses. bosteph Posted August 13, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I bought lanyards at Wal-Mart that are sort of like this... This means that I can detach my seapass without having to take it over my head. Helps for making quick purchases, reboarding from ports and entering the cabin. AngieBaby161 Posted August 13, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I too use a laynard but I have also purchased an ID type holder that I attach. This way I can carry the Sea Pass along with some money which comes in handy when at the pool and in port.
MJ25 Posted August 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2005 Lanyards are a great and easy way to keep your seapass handy, but, be sure that they are the type that have a "Break-away" built into them. This breakaway feature will allow the lanyard to come off of your neck if it would happen to become entangled in anything. (It can also be used to remove the lanyard instead of having to take it on and off over your hat and sunglesses)
mamax4 Posted August 13, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I bought lanyards at Wal-Mart that are sort of like this... This means that I can detach my seapass without having to take it over my head. Helps for making quick purchases, reboarding from ports and entering the cabin. You might consider buying the RCL landyard on board...only $3.50 and it's the same design as stated above (with the detachable feature). It also has the saftey feature around the neck that the other poster was talking about.
bryanool Posted August 13, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I usually carry mine very carefully. Don't want to lose it.. it controlls your every move aboard the ship ;)
Happy ks Posted August 13, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 13, 2005 I really prefer to just make sure I wear shorts with pockets, I hate having things hanging around my neck like that. Perhaps I should look for the wrist carrier instead.
dderm Posted August 13, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 13, 2005 DH and I tried the around-the-neck laynards but didn't care to have something dangling around the neck all the time. We went to Wal-Mart and got a little ID holder that you can put on one of those retractable ID clips. It's a pretty secure clip - we've never lost one in over 5 cruises and can clip it to belt, waistband, etc. The ones we use have a clear area to be able to see the seapass (making sure I put it back after buying all those souvenirs onboard :) ) and a zippered pocket for a few $$ for tips. I think they cost just a couple of bucks with the retractable clip less than $1.
Firefighterhoop Posted August 16, 2005 #13 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I staple mine to my palm.... HAHAHA just kidding Usually have shorts with pockets, and keep in there. When swimming I just hide in with my shirt/towels. I can't stand things hanging around my neck.
silly2003 Posted August 16, 2005 #14 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I carry mine in my pouch (a small waist belt) along with my prescription sunglasses. I have been known to carry it in the top of my pantyhose on formal night, or when I go out dancing. (Luckily I'm wearing a skirt and blouse.) That pouch just doesnt work for all dress standards. TEXASMUNK Posted August 16, 2005 #15 Share Posted August 16, 2005 on a lanyard, but these hold credit cards, ID and cash. they have a flip top with a water proof seal. Great for snorkeling or swimming. Can tie it to your wrist or arm....Don't leave home without it!
raytownlady Posted August 16, 2005 #16 Share Posted August 16, 2005 We also use a lanyard for our Sea Pass Cards.
sleeples23 Posted August 16, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I definitely vote for the wristband one. I had them for my whole group and I can't tell you how many people on the ship asked where we got them. They were disappointed to hear WalMart, as they were hoping to find them on the ship. I don't know why the ships don't sell them.. they could make a fortune. I did have mine in a little plastic jacket on the wristband but I took it out immediately, because you can't use it to open your door, etc if it's in the case. So just the card on the springy wrist thing was perfect for us.:o
JENNIEROEBUCK Posted August 16, 2005 #18 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I USE A LARGER CLEAR PLASTIC WATERPROOF ONE. I CAN KEEP LIPSTICK AND OTHER SMALL ITEMS IN IT. I BOUGHT IT HERE: http://www.witzprod.com/witzprod/product.cfm
jalakim Posted August 16, 2005 #19 Share Posted August 16, 2005 On our cruise on the Mariner last year we asked for a hole to be punched in our seapass and were told that if there was a hole in it then we would not be able to be served alchol. One hole meant no beer and two holes meant no alchol whatsoever. Kim

I'm sad to say it's been a while since anyone mistook me for a 21 year old. :( Beth

emilygrace Posted August 16, 2005 #22 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I have to wear mine on a lanyard because if I put it in my pocket it gets demagnetized. I found this out after having to get a new card 3 times on my first cruise. The purser said some people's body chemistry just does that. I know it would happen to my security badge at work also, if I carried it in my pocket. I do put it in a little beaded purse for formal nights. sleeples23 Posted August 16, 2005 #23 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I am looking at my seapass card from my recent cruise and the holes for childrens (2 holes) are bigger than a standard hole punch, but more importantly they are on the bottom of the card, whereas you will want the purser to punch the hole on the end of the card so you can put it in your door without interference. There is no way they can be confused, no matter what you've been told. It's good old common sense that prevails here, once you look at the card itself.:o

I was just passing on information that was tod to me at check in by a RCCL employee!!! I know about the common sense thing. I do have some. I am telling you she refused to do it unless we were willing to sign saying we did not want alchol.
sleeples23 Posted August 16, 2005 #25 Share Posted August 16, 2005 Sorry that you took my words so harshly. Certainly wasn't intended to be anything insulting. My next piece of advice to one and all... bring your own hole punch. I have a small one that fit right in my purse... it was great. I brought it because we traveled with 29 people.:o
