Question re cancellation

Recommended Posts

Were their names on the reservation from the start? or at least one of them?

if so, I think it will be fine. at least one name from the original reservation must stay on the reservation from start to finish. typically they will allow other names to change. that your DH's name happens to be listed first or second or third should not create an issue.

when is the cruise? Do you know that you will have to stay home or is this hypothetical?

Crazy planning mom, so sorry to hear about your mom. This may not be of interest to you but wanted to ask the knowing CC members: under such circumstances, could the passenger/name being removed be replaced by another? If so, what would the restrictions be (within certain timeframe; cost)?

More than 75 days before the cruise, you can cancel and rebook (or just cancel) at no penalty.

After 75 days, you can probably talk them into moving you to be the "3rd passenger", and then drop yourself off at no cost. You can drop off a 3rd passenger without any penalty up to 14 days before sailing!

Good luck.

If someone does not make it to the port in time - NCL will say tough luck. Meanwhile, the others have already checked in and away they go.

It happens.

Unless it's a comped cruise through CAS or a voucher cruise through a Casino. At that point, I believe the 'player' must be on board.

As you can see, there are many different answers. It all depends on the situation.

Before or after final date.

Normal booking or something special. CAS is the big one.

2nd or 3rd person changes things

etc

etc

Generally, you can still cruise.

Are they going to have you walk the plank with your luggage?

On a comped cruise I don't believe they will check you in unless the 'player' is on board. The reason the cruise is comped is due to the fact that they're betting on making their money back plus some on the player.

This is correct. But it doesn't seem like the OP has a CAS reservation.
