Enjoying your review. Sorry your experience in Le Bistro wasn't a good one. We have always loved the food and the service in Le Bistro. You must have had the misfortune of an 'off' night in there.

Glad your cruise was good, though.

I had always heard good things about Le Bistro here on CC and I think you may be right.......an "off" night.

Maybe I WILL try it again on my next cruise.

As I said, we are really NOT complainers and in fact, are easily pleased, but this was just not a good experience all round.

But yes, we DID have a fab cruise and I would repeat it in a heartbeat!

So....where were we?

Oh yes,Tuesday....it must be St Maarten!

We were docked by 7:30am but our balcony was on the wrong side!! Come on NCL, what's with THAT? ;)

So DH and I headed up to Deck 16 to take some photos on the RIGHT side of the ship! Breakfast in Flamingo Bar and back to cabin to pack up for the day.

We were off the ship by 10:00am and got a water taxi over to the Dutch side of St Maarten. Because it was our first time here and given that we had a little one with us, we chose not to stray too far. We walked down the main street and lo and behold, it began to rain! Yay for coolness for this melting lady! :D

Now there were some nice-looking bars on this street and it would have been rude not to take advantage of the shelter in the rain....so we did!

This bar....like many others, rented out beds and umbrellas on the beach and for a good deal ( I THINK it was $25) we got 4 beds, 2 umbrellas and beer and soft drinks...all good stuff!

It didn't rain for long and we took advantage of the beds and umbrellas and had a really relaxing day. We were in and out of the sea with the children....they had a ball. :)

We had lunch at the Barefoot bar and terrace. I had jerk chicken......it would have been rude not to, wouldn't it? ;) It was delicious!

Back to the beds for a while and back on the water taxi to the ship by about 4:30pm.....a good day!

Very much enjoying your review. We are going on the Getaway on Nov. 29 and can't wait. By any chance do you have the Freestyle Dallies that you could post (maybe on your Flicker account - I saw that you posted the ones from the Jade). It would be a great help for us to be able to plan dining, etc.

After a relax in our cabin, we made our way to the Sunset Bar, which had become our regular meet-up place with the others. We had a few drinks before our 9pm reservation at Moderno. This was as nice as our previous experiences of this restaurant and we came away stuffed and happy! :)

Tonight was the night of the Fireworks so we made our way to Spice H2O but it was very crowded for a family with a little one in a stroller so we had to look for somewhere else. We considered going back to our balconies, but wanted to be around others so we ended up on Deck 16 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We were also able to see the fireworks going off on the Disney ship, the Fantasy ( I THINK!! ) in the distance........ours were much better!! ;)

We followed this with a trip to Howl at the Moon. We never got around to this on the Epic as whenever we peeped in......no-one was there!! This time around was very different! We enjoyed it but after a while all the songs being requested, we (as Brits) had never heard of them so we made our way up to Spice H2O and joined the 80's party! That was an absolute blast.....we loved it!! I sang along to Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up to my heart's content!! :D We stayed right till the end of the party....get us!!

And so ended another great day!

I do indeed have the dailies and if you can be patient with me, I will add them to my Flickr account as soon as possible. :)

This is a great review. I love your detail. THanks so much for taking the time to do this. We're on her "sister-ship" in November and can't wait. The similarities between Getaway and Breakaway are simply awesome!!:D:D

Moving on to Wednesday and St Thomas.

DH woke me at 6:30am to watch us pulling into St Thomas. I must admit to being a little cross with him, given the early hour, but I soon forgave him because the view was wonderful! :)

Breakfast at Flamingo Bar and an easy disembark around 10:00am.

The youngsters went to the Butterfly Garden just across the road from where we were docked and DH and I ventured into Senor Frogs to sample some beverages! Well it WAS very humid and I WAS melting after all! ;)

We then just took a leisurely walk across to the are that held all the transportation to various places around St Thomas.

We jumped aboard a local jitney ( an open-air truck-like vehicle) and went into Charlotte Amelie. We really just had a wander and a few drink stops today. The humidity was really taking it's toll on all of us! :(

We had some lunch in a nice bar, the name of which escapes me right now, and then jumped in a jitney to go back to the ship. Our driver was a really nice guy and kept stopping for us silly British tourists to take photos!! :D

Back onboard it was straight to Spice H2O and my favourite place under the waterfall to cool off!

Met up in the Sunset Bar for a drink and tonight we ate at Cagneys. My filet mignon was gorgeous but DH's New York strip was a little undercooked for his liking. The waiter saw this immediately and apologised and took it back. Then, to our embarrassment, the Chef appeared at the table!! He could NOT have been nicer if he tried! He was full of apologies and chatted to my DH for a good few minutes.....he was lovely! My DH's fresh dinner came out shortly afterwards and was perfect. Then along came complimentary drinks to the table....we were impressed! :)

I have to admit to loving those Cagney fries.......and the Oreo cheesecake is super yummy! I was a happy bunny tonight! :)

We ended the evening in the Sunset Bar......this is a really chilled-out place on the Getaway and was often frequented by members of Legally Blonde or the Burn the Floor dancers.

Thank-you for your kind words! I really don't mind taking the time to do this.....I love re-living our cruise and if it helps others...all the better!

We are thinking of the Breakaway in 2016.......it will be our Silver Wedding Anniversary :)

Okay, it's now Thursday and a sea day.....or as I had thought....Nassau!! Lol, I had my days all mixed up and this caused great hilarity in our group as I am the one who checks things out thoroughly before we travel. I blame it on the humidity.......I keep telling you....I was melting!! ;)

Today was the day for trying out the waterslides and the Plank.....no, not me!! The teenager and the men!! I'm informed that the lines were not too bad at all early on in the day and that both experiences were amazing! Well my waterfall area in Spice H2O was amazing as well...so there! :p

A very lazy day ( for me) was followed by a girlie night out! Us ladies watched Legally Blonde and thoroughly enjoyed it and this was followed by dinner at Teppanyaki. I have done this at a land-based restaurant at home but DH hadn't. We had a great evening! Our companions at our table were super company and the 2 Chefs were incredibly amusing. Oh.....and the cocktails were not half bad either! ;)

This was followed by a drink in O'Sheehans and back to the cabin, where I decided that the night was still young....it was actually 1:15am! So, doing as he was told, my DH duly accompanied me to the Casino where we lost a few dollars and we then took a walk around 678 Ocean Place. It was very peaceful at 3:00am....you should all try it!! ;)

So Friday....Nassau....I'm still convinced we should have been there yesterday!! ;)

All of us had been to Nassau before so our companions decided to stay on the ship and DH and I had a late breakfast and just got off at our leisure.

All we did was have a wander around. We walked over to the Hilton Hotel and took a look around....it's lovely.

We wandered around the shops and bought some souvenirs.

We watched a small carnival parade and took some photos and that was it, we headed back to the ship.

we had a late lunch, chilled at Spice H2O and headed back to the room to pack!!!

Tonight, no-one could agree as to where to eat, so we went our separate ways and met up later. DH and I ate at O'Sheehans......I just needed *snacky* after all our lovely meals all week and the chicken tenders did the job just fine! :)

Finished of the remaining wine from our (THIRD!!) wine package!! Don't judge.....there were more of us than usual....hehe!!

and that was it, our final night was done!

Next morning we were awake to watch the Miami skyline come into view. We ate breakfast at O'Sheehans and disembarked the ship around 9:00ish.

Now anyone having read any of my other reviews will know we always self-disembark because I like to have my luggage with me at all times. On the Jade, this was not possible and I got in a panic about having to place my luggage in the hands of others. It all turned out fine, of course. So when our companions suggested we did that this time, I agreed. It made sense......they had 4 suitcases, a stroller and a baby!!

Well guess what? One of the suitcases wasn't there when we got to baggage claim!! Fortunately it turned up just as we were about to give up, after filling in a missing bag form! Someone had taken it by mistake!! I shan't be doing THAT again........and it wasn't even my bag!

So, our Getaway trip was over and we had loved nearly every minute of it.

We were fortunate enough to be continuing our travels the next day with a trip to Naples, Florida so our Getaway journey was at an end but our holiday wasn't!!

Thanks for reading and I hope you've enjoyed my ramblings!

If anyone has any questions, I'll try my best to answer them.

Safe travels and happy cruising all. :)

As I said, we too had heard good reviews about Le Bistro before this sailing.

I'm sure we hit an *off* night and a member of staff who just wasn't thinking maybe. I'm sure we WILL give it another go.

Thanks for your lovely comments and happy cruising! :)
