We leave in 8 day on the sunshine. Had booked a midship, deck 6, inside cabin (we love inside cabins and have always had them), but then saw a balcony, aft, deck 7 cabin (#7296) available for cheaper than we booked. Called to see if we could switch and try out the balcony and we could and got an OBC. So we are trying out a balcony for 1st time, even though we arent in room much, but figured hey better room and an OBC credit- why not give it a shot. Plus we will have easy access to the pool and lido deck without having to go through the casino. Very sensitive to smoke.

So if the room location is bad or anything is wrong with it, please don't tell me :)

Ah now, there you've done it.

Once you have a balcony, it's real hard to go back.

I've received that comment as well when i booked a balcony room for the first time, and you know what, although it was nice, i didn't get that wow factor from a balcony which would make me absolutely need one for the next cruises. If it's free, sure, but i wouldn't spend a dime to have one. Some people just aren't cruising for the room, i go to my room to sleep and shower, that's it!!

I am with you on this one. I mean I would spend a little bit..but not too much. My DH and I figure if we book the cheaper rooms we can cruise more often and we are hardly in the room.

However, to the OP, great job on getting a great deal. I do love the balconies so I would never sway someone away from them. But I am just as happy in an interior.

Well I'll let you know what we prefer. We never even look at balconies for the reason they are more expensive and we are never in the room. But figured its cheaper lets try. Turns out they refunded it back to credit card. I guess we werent even supposed to get a refund bc we didnt book under early saver. But oh well, we will spend way more than the $88 we are getting refunded.

You may say that you're never in your room...a balcony changes that, believe me.

It's great having your own little get away from all the hustle and bustle of the decks. It's so nice getting up and watching the sunrise from your balcony, or even the sunset.

There have even been times I've slept out on the balcony because it was so peaceful (Cove balcony).

Agree!

We are night owls- and sometimes spend hours on the balcony after dark.

Although I love the social activities on the public decks, sometimes it's nice to have a bit of privacy. My best cruising memories are there...
