lovey33 Posted August 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2005 Does anyone know if there are any places of interest in the St Davids area?
Swizzle v2.0 Posted August 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2005 There's a lighthouse, a couple of beaches, and I think there's a decent pub/restaurant out there. I'm embarassed to admit that I lived in Bermuda for four years and have only been out there once. :o
Susan-M Posted August 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2005 The spectacular views from the lighthouse are well worth the trip out there. Allow 2 hours total for the trip (from St. George) - it's a 20 minute bus ride & the bus goes every hour, which will allow an hour at the lighthouse to relax & enjoy the great views. The bus ride there is quite interesting too. You can see some beautiful beaches from the lighthouse, but I'm not sure how to get to them - I think either taxi or tour bus. There is a concession stand and washrooms at the lighthouse. Going to both Gibbs Hill & St. David's lighthouses is worthwhile as the views are quite different from each. lovey33 Posted August 16, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted August 16, 2005 Thank you for the info. It seems as though it may be a little quieter and scenic just what I am looking for on my vacation.
Susan-M Posted August 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2005 Yes, it is a nice 'out of the way spot', which I enjoy too. The tour buses stop there, but they make it a quick stop - we only saw one tour bus during the hour that we spent there, so had the place pretty much to ourselves along with the few other people who took the public bus there. On our first visit, in October '03, there were only 4 of us there and it was wonderful!
