Princess Cay snorkeling - boat vs shore?

I posted this question on the snorkeling forum too, but I wasn't sure if it would be more likely to be seen and answered here. Have any of you done the princess cay boat snorkeling excursion or snorkeled from shore? Any thoughts on either or both? What would you recommend? My mother and I are going in early November in case that makes a difference. Thanks!
