Prepay gratituties

I always wait to pay on the ship. I use the Carnival MasterCard for everything so I get double the points for using it to book the cruise and when I use it onboard. I love seeing the points accumulate. Saves quite a bit of money. :D

Yes, simply call and they'll let you take care of pre-paying your gratuities. We always add them when we book. I prefer to pay for as much as possible before hand, then all I need to budget for is spending cash. I even buy gift cards for places if we make dinner reservations in our port of embarkation. :)

Ditto, just got a 100.00 Gift Card to cover what my OBC won't for cheers and a pedicure for the wife.

Now when we get home, there's nothing more to pay. We are a Cash in hand family. No credit cards, if we can't afford it now, we don't get it. Gratuities paid up front means not having to bring that extra cash. Since we all know about the holds on debit cards, I don't want the bank holding my money from me for a week when we get back. Cash SS account, everything pre-paid.

I have paid in advance 6 out of 7 times! My first cruise I wasn't sure what to expect and had excellent service, my second cruise I pre paid and had killer service without exception! However, I do not add the tips to my cruise bill directly, I wait till the cruise is paid off, and then I will add the gratuity as well as trip insurance after the final payment date!

Exactly!! I even purchased Carnival gift cards through Verizon's new reward points program to pay for the Cheers package, saving 10% to save even more money! :)

Our hotel in Memphis on the trip to NOLA and the vacation rental we rented in NOLA for the three days before our cruise are pre-paid. I have an envelope system for gas, food, spending money in NOLA, each port, and my husband's casino allotment.

I refuse to go into debt for a vacation. It may take me 12-18 months to prepay for one completely, but at least coming home I am not worried about how to pay off credit cards. :D

I always pre pay our gratuities. We travel as a large family with at least 3 cabins and this year there are 8 cabins and 18 people. I don't need to have the added expense when I get home as when we travel in just 3 cabins, our S&S is usually at least $2000 on a 7 day. It's a matter of what works for you but to me, having it pre paid works. Plus how much interest an I going to get on the money for 3-4 months? Not worth the hassle.
