DonRobertoSanJuan Posted September 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2014 We plan to take the train from La Spezia to Florence in a few weeks. How far is the train station from the cruise port? Can we walk or do we need to take a taxi?
euro cruiser Posted September 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2014 It depends on where you are docked. If you are in the Molo Italia area yes, you can walk if you want as it's about a mile and a quarter, all flat land. There is a bus if you want, with a special 5 Euro all day ticket specifically for cruise passengers, mentioned on the port web site here: http://www.porto.laspezia.it/it/notizie/nuovo-bus-ticket-per-i-crocieristi-con-atc If you are in the military/industrial part of the port (Molo Garibaldi) a cab is probably required those piers can be as much as two and a half miles from the train station. Thanks euro cruiser. Do you happen to know where Liberty of the Seas might be docking in La Spezia? Or does it change from week to week?
CCBoy Posted September 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2014 We got off Liberty of the Sea 2 weeks ago in La Spieza. There is a shuttle bus (free) that takes you to the port gate (short ride). From there, we took a cab to the train station for a flat fee of 15 euros (less than 10 min ride) We warned, plan your train schedule carefully, as to Firenza from La Spieza, will eats up alot of your time that day, (which may include a train switch at Pisa Centrale). We got tripped up that day as we initially thought we were getting off at Livorno which is closer.
tidygirl Posted September 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2014 So how far to walk from the port gate to the train station? Is the free shuttle well marked? Will be there in about 2 weeks
euro cruiser Posted September 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2014 It's two miles from the Molo Garibaldi port entrance/exit to La Spezia Centrale and 1.2 miles to La Spezia Migliarina.
tidygirl Posted September 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2014 I'm guessing the taxis only hold 3 or 4 people not 5?
CathyCruises Posted September 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2014 We just took a cab right from the port, there were 4 of us and we shared with another couple to split costs. Yes, there are cab vans that seat 6 or more. Don't see the advantage in taking the port shuttle and then the cab, just extra time and trouble. . . tidygirl Posted September 9, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2014 @cathycruises- did you take the taxi to the train station and what would the cost be for 5 approximately?
