chubby_faye Posted August 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2005 Does all RCCL cruises have chocolate buffets? I have only cruise on one other RCCL ship and it had one. We will be on the Enchantment in late October for a 5 day Caribbean cruise.

welove2cruise* Posted August 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2005 I have never been on an RCL ship with the chocolate buffet. That is an NCL standard event. We have been on several RCL ships and they have all had the "Grand Buffet", but not the "Chocoholic buffet". Incidentally, my favorite was when the NCL Crown held the chocolate buffet at around 2PM in the afternoon during a sea day. I am never hungry at 11PM for the other buffets, so that was a perfect time for a chocolate fix. :)
cruiseescape Posted August 15, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2005 I don't know if they all have it or not but when we sailed the Sovereign in April they had it. I hope when we go in October on the Voyager that they do too! :D
powelweb Posted August 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2005 I was on the Jewel's repositioning cruise last fall (10 nights), they had one. It was scrumptous!
RDeagazio Posted August 15, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2005 The Chocolte Buffet as with other shipboard events seem to be up to the ships management. I've been on some where they had it and other where they didn't. Same with the Quest and the late night adult comedy shows.
MysticRhythmCruiser Posted August 15, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2005 I saw it on the Sovereign in 2000, but the "Grand Buffet" on AOS and Voyager both had a substantial "Chocolate" and pastry section. Not quite the same, but plenty of goodies. Cheers, Esther

dougp26364 Posted August 15, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 15, 2005 Both our Alaskan cruises had one. The 7 night E. Caribbean and 3 night Baja Mexico did not.
Harmony365 Posted August 15, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 15, 2005 I was on the Majesty last week and they had a midnight chocolate buffet one night... the line was looooooong but it moved pretty quickly. I'm a chocoholic so it was worth the wait. :D
Boomer23 Posted August 15, 2005 #13 Share Posted August 15, 2005 Enchantment had one on the 7/31 sailing. The lines were way too long and we couldn't get near the dining room.
sha88 Posted August 15, 2005 #14 Share Posted August 15, 2005 There was a midnight chocolate buffet on the 9 day cruise on the Grandeur last month, but the line was so long so we decided to skip it. Enjoy your cruise!

Texsungirl Posted August 15, 2005 #16 Share Posted August 15, 2005 Two years ago Rhapsody had a chocolate buffet and it was out of this world. I am hoping it is still part of the adventure ;-)
Cruisechick82 Posted August 15, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 15, 2005 We sailed on the Majesty last year and we had a midnight chocolate buffet. We fell asleep and missed it. We did attend the regular midnight buffet. I've never seen so much food!
MM27 Posted August 15, 2005 #18 Share Posted August 15, 2005 Always had Midnight Chocolate Buffets on my NCL cruises, but not on any of my RCI cruises. Great opportunity to take pictures for the people at home to see. To me, they look a lot better than they taste. I love the chocolate sculptures/carvings that they do. Max Circus Posted August 15, 2005 #19 Share Posted August 15, 2005 To me, they look a lot better than they taste. My feelings exactly. On the two cruises we've been on, the presentation was much better than the product - both the regular and chocolate buffets. Worth going once on your first cruise to see the intricate ice carvings, etc.

kenandlaura06 Posted August 16, 2005 #22 Share Posted August 16, 2005 To me, they look a lot better than they taste. Yes, probably especially at midnight! I am never hungry that late.
Ericknow32 Posted August 16, 2005 #23 Share Posted August 16, 2005 I go for one thing. I love the White chocolate mouse. It is usually served in a tall glass of some sort. One thing that bugs me is that all of the cream puffs on the ship have chocolate cream. I want regular cream in my cream puffs. Does anyone else get mad at the people that are in front of you in line that feel they need to touch all of the food. There are utensils people, USE THEM. LittleBee Posted August 17, 2005 #24 Share Posted August 17, 2005 Just returned from the Explorere this week. Had a chocolate midnight buffet on Thursday? night. I wasn't impressed. There were some good cakes and chocolate dipped strawberries. There wa some shrimp cocktail and breadstick, but not much else. Good thing we were at the head of the line and didn't wait long.
