B-52 Posted October 1, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) I've been on ships for sea trials...shake down cruises....not very fun, no one sleeps for days...the crew is stressed to the limits as much as the ship...and it's about many things performed in stages....it has very little to do with the North star....they're doing things that the ship will never have to go through again.... DEIx15x8 Posted October 1, 2014 #27 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Hope they have their headlights on. They actually need complete darkness or they can't see. Turning the headlights on would blind the bridge. Those are only used for docking where they are moving slowly and can shine directly on an object. Even then they are not always used. I still remember on the Voyager of the Seas we had a foreward facing cabin and when we got back to our room the first night the curtains were closed so we opened them to see out. Within 5 minutes we got a call from the bridge that we were blinding them and needed to either shut the curtains or turn the lights off. Apparently they sent someone down to the bow to count the windows and see which cabin it was, lol. When we sailing on the Liberty a few years later they had added a sign in the cabin that stated not to open the curtains at night as it would effect the bridges ability to see in the dark. Mass2Cruise Posted October 4, 2014 #37 Share Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Fleet mom reports Restricted munerivility This on purpose and part of the sea trial or an issue during sea trials? Edit: Just checked marine traffic and fleetmon....both report Q underway with engines....and it's going East and not South to the port so I'm guessing it was all part of the trial...
