Cellular at Sea

Recommended Posts

When does cellular at sea pick up calls as soon as I get on the ship or as it pulls out of port or what.. Just seeing when we should all pack our phones away..thank you!

As long as your phone has signal it won't try to roam on ship service. I know with T-Mo I had service in port(On the ship in Miami), I'd guess all 4 carriers do as well since ports are usually in big cities. If you have smart phones then I'd suggest turning off roaming either way just to be sure.

once shore based cell signal drops.

this is variable based on the port of course. So for instance new Orleans has signal for the hours you're sailing the river, and Baltimore while sailing through the bay

Sunday I woke up on the ship around 3 am on the way to dock in Baltimore and turned my phone on and had a signal. It was spotty, but there. We didn't dock until like 9 am.
