9th July 2006 Cruise...

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon everyone... This is my very first time on this Board, so you will have to be patient with me!!

We are a family from UK who are very excited about the thought of our cruise next year...I know it's a long way off, but there's nothing like looking forward to something special!!

We are not new to cruising, having been cruising for many many years with P&O. We thought it was about time we tried a new cruise line...so here we go!!! We have booked on Splendour of the Seas, departing Venice 9th July 2006 - then on the following cruise that runs after this one.:D

We would welcome any contact with any other folk out there who are booked on this one - we love meeting new people - and it would be great to organise a "Meet & Mingle" meeting - sounds a super way to get to know people. Look forward to hearing from anyone who has been/or is going on this ship!! -

UK Family....If you have not done so yet, you should go to the Meet & Mingle part of the boards on the main menu, and go to the Splendour Threads and see if a roll call has been started for your cruise yet.

If one has not been started yet....start your own. Check out the notes at the top by Laura on how to title your roll call.

This area is where cruisers on the same cruise get together and keep in touch for their particular cruise. And it is never too early, we started ours for the Radiance about a year ago and we still don't cruise till Nov.

Hello UK Family,

We are also sailing on the Splendour July 9th, this will be our third time on the Splendour, it is an older ship but kept in great condition and we have many happy memories of our travels on her, although we have heard good things about P&O. Sailed on Legend of the Seas which was very restful and easy from Southampton, hopefully the SOS will be as remembered. How many in your group? Have you booked any excursions? Are you flying with RCCI or have you arranged flights on your own?

Speak to you soon

Welcome UK Family to the boards, great to have some more Brits on board. You will soon become addicted to this site, it is a great place for lots of info and help. We had our first cruise this year and had a wonderful time, joined the Meet and Mingle beforehand and had fun chatting to our fellow cruise mates and then meeting them on board ship. Wish you and your family a great cruise.

Happy Cruising.....

Tessa:)

We've also recently booked this cruise. We plan to arrive in Venice on the Friday for two nights and then off to the Adriatic. I haven't yet planned any trips- too soon I suppose. This will be our first summer holiday without the kids so we are looking forward to a holiday when we don't have to think if the girls are bored!

We were on the Golden Princess this summer and had a great roll call group. Has a roll call been set up yet for this cruise?

Anne

Hello UK family

As soon as I saw your opening "Good Afternoon" I knew you had to be British....

Hi - where abouts in South East England are you? Hubby and I are from West Sussex and going on LOS on 24th June from Southampton. Have to say this appeals to me so much, no flying, no getting up to get to the Airport etc, bliss. We live about 45 mins or less from Southampton and hope to get on board pretty early to start our holiday.

Hope you have a great holiday, we are counting the days (well I am anyway) and daily I browse these boards, gathering lots of tips etc. I just wish these boards were here a few years ago when we did our Caribbean cruise.

Hope to spk often to you and share your excitement.:) :)

Do you have the link to the Roll Call? I found one but it doesn't seem to be right - you aren't on it!

HI i also from uk (north scotland) i due to on 4thand 5th cruise with RCI in january doing a back to back but i was on the splendour in july 04 i think a different ittenary than you we left from barcelona maybe a smaller ship but standards and service the same. this is a review i wrote then. -

in a word fantastic this was my second cruise my first being on the explorer, i wandered about it being small but it may be smaller than than the Eof S but still a large vessel, it is older i think 1997 but it doesnt show they are always cleaning and painting the organisation by R.C I again was great, we we lucky enough to be among the first onboard that day so saw it neer empty. time to find our way around and enjoy lunch in the fabulas windjammer, 2 tier dinning room, where dinners were out of this world the Seabass and Lobster was to die for, theatre, minature golf, rock climbing, many bars and restaurants. The service was fantastic, treated like royalty rooms cleaned twice daily, several places to choose from to eat or free room service, i didnt notice yogurt but plenty of free ice cream, also unlike the EofS there is food from the pool bar and water on tap. but i missed the prmanade and its cafe.

we prefer an inside cabin as my wife doesnt like to see the sea and were advised to stay low down for the fear of seasickness the cabin are small but more than adaquate with plenty storage space, well lets face it with so much to do and see we spent very little time in our cabin, change and sleep when we had time

they have a full programme of entertainment in the 'compass' published daily and you need to carry that around as there so much going on day or night, evenings you can choose from an international production show in the theatre or simple piano bar or the casino but no iceshow. and not forgetting the small part of the ports of call, med. we went to Marselle, Villafrance, Livorno, Civatavechia (excuse the spellings) I am not a good writer of reviews and would take too long to type a lengthy review which i would end up missing parts anyway, suffice to say this was a fantastic holiday (20 out of 10) my only dissapoinment is it passed too quickly but booked while on board for next March (my wifes 40th) on the MARINER
