surfjock27 Posted October 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2014 We cruise the Breeze in 26 days and I'm a super organized person. We're packed, everything printed out, etc. Now on my past cruises I always laminate our luggage tags so they don't rip. This cruise we are booked a 4J (handicapped cabin) and were told that we could be bumped. I don't want to laminate the luggage tags then get bumped and have to pay again to have the new ones laminated. Any advice? Anyone encounter this before? Should I fight my OCD and just wait until the day before to have them laminated.. Or is the likelihood of us getting bumped this close, slim? Thanks in advance. :)
CAnative1 Posted October 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Just "laminate" them with some packing tape. I have done that on the past two cruises that I have gone on, and they stay nice and sturdy. They even end up staying on through the rough trip of going through check in baggage of airports. I print out the tag, place a few strips of packing tape on each side and they end up nice and protected.
tobancruiser Posted October 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I always wrap my luggage tags with clear packing tape - accomplishes the same thing as laminating them without the expense. I bring a small amount of packing tape along to attach them to the luggage handle.
hoplady Posted October 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Have used clear packing tape and have now bought a roll of clear Contact Paper... works great!

RD3PO Posted October 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I used to laminate. Now I use these: http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/product.cfm?ID=
YB Nrml Posted October 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2014 We've never laminated in any form, just staple them onto the handle. I do print out our names, cabin number and contact info and place it inside the suitcase in case a luggage tag comes off, but that's never happened either. Jimmy Geegitz Posted October 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2014 We always laminate too. Just tape new tags to the laminated ones if things change.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted October 13, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I used to laminate. Now I use these: http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/product.cfm?ID=46 I wouldn't use these. They may lose your luggage on purpose.
ams1130 Posted October 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) i wouldn't use these. They may lose your luggage on purpose. :D yes quite possibly Edited October 13, 2014 by ams1130
PokerBradOKC Posted October 13, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) I wouldn't use these. They may lose your luggage on purpose. Why is that? Edited October 13, 2014 by PokerBradOKC
bambilin Posted October 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Why is that? My guess is the "Cruise Critic" logo advertised on the tags. LOL. My TA always prints out our luggage tags and sends them to us inside of the clear luggage tag holders just like those, but with no advertisement. ☺️ Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
toledo_cruiser Posted October 13, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I used to laminate. Now I use these: http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/product.cfm?ID=46 I get my Cruise Luggage Tag Holders from Favors by Serendipity. They are like the ones you showed, but they have a grommet in the attachment hole. I just think they're a little stronger. Plus, they don't have the Cruise Critic logo on the bottom. I don't think that Cruise Critic logo will get your luggage "lost," but you never know. :) OP, that laminating gets old fast, especially with multiple pieces of luggage. These holders really simplify the job, and they're very strong. If you do go this route, I'd recommend getting the longer plastic ties. If you go to the Favors website you'll find a good video showing the use. They do rush orders. On the return from the cruise I put my name and address in the holder in case someone takes my bag by mistake (the other side says NOT YOUR BAG in big letters to give other folks the hint. Sometimes it's hard to spot your own bags on the luggage carousel. Jim
mrpayroll Posted October 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I just " follow the directions " and have never had a problem ( 13 cruises )
misguidedangel Posted October 13, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I use packing tape to make the bag tags stronger, or I use the 8" clear label tape I use at work to secure numbers numbers falling off a file folder at work. I use two per tag on each edge and all is well...
elliair Posted October 13, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Like others here we use packing tape to laminate. Then I punch a hole in both ends and attach with zip ties. Never had one come off yet.

I agree I have done the same for the last few cruises, no problem I just put them on at the cruise dock. Gary
Cruzlover7 Posted October 14, 2014 #18 Share Posted October 14, 2014 I always print on card stock and use packing tape and zip ties. Never had a problem losing or with them tearing.
nitro2448 Posted October 14, 2014 #19 Share Posted October 14, 2014 We always laminated using clear shelf paper, now we use cruise luggage tags. $24 for 8 of them.
tobancruiser Posted October 14, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Like the zip tie idea- a lot easier and lighter to pack than the packing tape.,. Thanks.

We had these but on our last Carnival cruise one of the porters wrote FTTF across them using black permanent ink. I haven't been able to use them since so naturally they were tossed. wrigley80 Posted October 14, 2014 #22 Share Posted October 14, 2014 I just laminated our luggage tags today with packing tape for our cruise in December. rlkubi Posted October 14, 2014 #23 Share Posted October 14, 2014 We bought cruise luggage tag holders and just print out the tags and put in there. Easy! They sell them on Cruise Critic now if you are interested for next time.
cuccicruisers Posted October 14, 2014 #24 Share Posted October 14, 2014 I normally wrap enough packing tape for a few tags around the end of a pen and attach the tag at the port. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
christyran1228 Posted October 14, 2014 #25 Share Posted October 14, 2014 At Staples they have laminating sheets that you don't have to run through a machine ... i imagine they would be cheaper than having someone do them. I used them last cruise and they were great.
