what to do on St Kitts

My hubby and I are sailing on the Valor out of San Juan on Oct 26. It will be our first cruise. I have been reading lots of reviews, travel guides, and excursion ads but can't decide what to do on St Kitts. Is it easy to just grab a taxi to a nice beach? Or is there a ferry to Nevis that is tourist friendly? What do you experienced cruisers recommend?

If you like horseback riding, we have used Trinity Stables a couple times. We went once up in the rainforest and the other on the beach. We liked the rainforest better. They even come and pick you up at the pier and take you back.

We were in St. Kitts on 10/1. We grabbed a local taxi (look for the orange shirts) to cockelshell beach. It cost $7 pp each way and chairs & umbrellas rented for $5 each. It was fairly small, had restaurant/bar service and very clear water. It wasn't the absolute best beach we've ever been too but we would go back. All in all a nice relaxing day and we got to see a bit of the island on the drive to and from the beach. Easy on the budget too.

Had a tour there last week with greys island excursions...absolutely phenomenal!
