Cruising in about 50 days, what to do before?

In the carribbean islands you don't need your passport to get back on the ship. You do need government photo I'd (such as license) and your ship issued sea pass card. My suggestion about having a copy of your passport is for worst case scenario. You miss the ship and have to fly somewhere. Having a copy of your passport will help.

i always bring a copy of our final payment receipt from our TA. This is because we have had errors on our bill when we have boarded. E.g. last time we had free gratuities and X did not have them on our account. It took a few days to get it straightened out, but having the receipt definitely helped. (It wasn't the TA, it was X.)

Are you able to do this for all the islands? You just need a photo copy to get back on the ship?? ....not the original?? I though they had to scan it??
The photo copy of the passport is only to use as your photo ID for entry to the port area (so that you can leave your actual passport itself securely locked away in the safe).

Your seapass card is what is scanned to get back on the ship.

That way in case of theft or loss, you only risk losing a photocopy that is easily replaced, not your passport or driver's license.

However, if it is a port where you actually need to take your passport off the ship with you, they will let you know.

If you are going to be driving a motor vehicle at the port, then you also need to take your driver's license with you.

Very important. If you haven't already, GET A FLU SHOT. According to the info from CDC, it reduces your probability of getting the flu by 50%, and the risks for most folks are negligible. (See the CDC website for specific info on who should not take the vaccine).

Most casino players would kill to find something that would improve their odds by that factor!

Take a cell phone picture of your luggage before you board your flights (or at least before you hand off to the porter at the pier). This way, if it is lost, you won't have to describe it, you can show them.

What a good idea. Triona
