PJ's Posted October 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2014 If you book shore excursions before embarking your cruise do you still receive the Peninsular discount or do you only receive this if you book onboard as this will show on your onboard account. We are booked on a Canary Island cruise on Arcadia at the end of November and have just received our holiday information book through the post, (really excited, never had one of these before). We do have some OBC to spend and wonder if it would be best to wait until we are onboard before booking although we do want to visit the speciality restaurants and the OBC will come in handy. There are only a couple of tours which we want to do, namely La Palma and Lisbon. What do others think? Book nor wait? Sooo excited, never been on Arcadia and I understand she has had a makeover recently.

You are then assured of getting that tour. If you wait until you're onboard, the tour May be sold out or offered at a higher price. winniesbestm8 Posted October 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2014 Yes you still get the discount booking on your cruise personaliser. It depends on the excursion, if it is a popular one you may not be able to book on board as it will be sold out. Last year we had a silly amount of OBC but we still booked excursions before we went to make sure we were booked on them :)

Last year we had a silly amount of OBC but we still booked excursions before we went to make sure we were booked on them :) I concur. Our next cruise has loads of OBC but I've booked one excursion a month since we booked; got my discount at checkout. I decided to operate it like a savings plan. Now I can use my OBC for wine!!! :D

clucker Posted October 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2014 We book in advance as well, you get your discount PLUS we have noticed that the on board prices are higher! OBC is always useful for wine and gratuities. Ian

Ataraxia Posted October 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 19, 2014 I believe that you do not get your peninsular discount until your OBC is used up. If you book prior to going on board then peninsular discount is applied.

Paul1924 Posted October 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2014 I have recently booked an excursion and received my discount on my receipt all done online. On a slightly different note have had two emails off P & O asking if I wished to book a table in one of the specialist restaurants prior to sailing. One problem is they have two different menus and there is no way until getting on board of finding out on which days which menu will be used. The problem is the wife always finds there is some items on one of the menus that would make it a non starter.
