Ncl sale

Am I missing a point here or not? If you book a cruise or anything else for that matter, you know what you are getting and what it costs. You must be happy about that price. If the price moves either up or down, you still get what you have paid for. If you buy a car on a Friday and the day after a sale takes place, and the price is lower it is just hard luck. On many occassions, the price of a cruise increases and you have a better deal. Is it not called swings and roundabouts? (or do they not have those in USA)

I understand your point, but humbly disagree. The price advertised on NCL is obviously not for a vehicle; it is for a service which has not yet been used. When one purchases a vehicle, they take delivery of the item and subsequently drive it off the lot; thereby reducing the value. Let's say you went to a department store and ordered a high ticket item and placed it on a layaway plan, agreeing to take delivery in a few weeks or even months. A few days later the store advertises subtantial reductions....I doubt many people would think " hard luck" without attempting to be recompensed. Jmho

very true, and well said.... but on the other hand I can see where the sour taste can set in. If you buy a car today but dont take possession until lets say march you would want the price on said purchased car to reflect the price on date of delivery. That being said, business is business and they are in business to make a profit.

If you just booked last night then this may be helpful to you:

http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/best-price-guarantee

Just got this back:

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your cruise fare under our Best Price Guarantee Program. We have reviewed your reservation and found that unfortunately, it is not eligible to receive the lower advertised fare due to the below reasons:

• The price reduction does not apply to guarantee offer.

• The claim must be submitted at least 7 days prior to sailing.

Oh well :(

Thanks for bringing the Best Price Guarantee to my attention. This will be my first time on an NCL ship and I wasn't aware that the company would give you a better price after final payment. It doesn't work that way on Carnival (our last 9 cruises were on Carnival ships) unless you book an "Early Saver" rate.

I'm sorry that the restrictions kept you from getting the dining package but I hope you enjoy your cruise, Rehr.

thats when I sail and got an upgrade last week after a couple of phone calls.... never hurts to try[/

Strange that NCL is not consistent. Glad you were successful though. Any ideas or strategies we could use to garner the same results?

Don't whine, be persistent, be polite, be gracious, don't demand, request.

Interesting indeed.

Booked 1 1/2 yrs out.

1 month to sail date.

Had heard other posters over the months talk about calling after final pmt date & receiving a cabin upgrade.

Got email this a.m. About this Freestyle Sale.

Called and politely asked if we qualified for any upgrade or OBC.

And taadaa received a 3 category upgrade!

We also got to keep our $300 OBC.

We are delighted, of course.

Not sure why the disparity in regards to this and feel bad for others unable to upgrade.

It never hurts to ask & I hope this sale helps others upgrade too.

It's all very simple. If you are still before final payment you can benefit from all new promotions, price drops etc. Just call Norwegian or your travel agent. That's what I did this morning with the new promo after having booked last Saturday. The cruise line will honor any promo prior to final payment... My price dropped, I have the 10% OBC and I have an upgrade for my room from BC to BA.

I am booked through CAS for a feb sailing. I am still before final payment. I have a comped cabin that I upgraded to an aft balcony which came with a 25.00 onboard credit. Can you still get upgrades even though your cabin is a comp? I did pay around 1200.00 for the two of us. I would happily give up the whopping 25 bucks to get the dining package!

Two of my buddies are going through CAS...they were told they could not get anything either. They paid a couple hundred each to upgrade to a balcony..which is not bad. NCL told them if they canceled now, it would be subject to huge penalties and cost more than what was booked. Strange how this is working, and how some are getting amenities while others are not. I would be interested in hearing why NCL decided to give you the dining package when the sail date is so close.

I am still 137 days away, so not in final payment window yet.

Just wondering...since the CAS offered free oceanview, and new offer states free balcony upgrades, shouldnt you be entitled to balcony cabin and the dining package?

We are on the Epic so no Ocean Views. We actually went all inside to keep costs down for the other 4 people.

How did you do it? Please tell me.

I made a couple of calls to the same lady I have booked with before, 1st and 2nd call same answer "nothing we can do" 3rd call was "ok I will check and get back to you" 4th call was the upgrade from large balcony to aft balcony. That being said I looked not much left now. You can try to get an upgrade to the spa suit and it will cost the difference but those cabins are harder to sell so maybe use that angle. Or wait to next sun go onboard and go to the reception desk and ask to be put on the upgrade list, if they have better rooms left unsold or from noshows by mon night you will know if you scored a better room.

If you booked through the casino dept.,aid for the upgrade to a balcony, sailing in less than a month any chance of being able to get the speciality dining deal or OBC?

Since you are after final payment, possibility for getting the extra perks is slim to none. Somekind of upgrade - remotely possible.

We had booked Monday. I was able to call back through CAS and "rebook" the same rooms with the dining credits. Not worth it to get the 10% since we are already going at the "comped" rate...... :) Win-Win for our group (including 3 first timers).

I also just got off the phone with CAS. For me, it was worth the 10% even though our cabin is 'comped'. They use the cost of the cabin not the comp. I received $273.26 additional OBC with this promo of 10%. Truth be told.....CAS always gives us 2 or 3, maybe more, free specialty diners and with both of us being Platinum we each receive 1 dinner for two each so that's already 5 dinners at a specialty restaurant and this cruise is only a 6 day cruise. Truth be told.....CAS always takes lots of $$ off my final bill anyway.....but I had to choose to I chose the 10%.

Also, I'm not at final payment yet so that helped.

I just booked monday as well. Trying to get something out of it. I'll be kinda annoyed if they won't do anything for me with the sale so close to my booking.

I booked (through NCL) a couple of days ago and noticed the sale. I called and it was no problem giving me the OBC of $253.80. My sail date is 5/8/15. I'm happy:D:D

Easy to do since your not past final payment yet. After final payment is when the problem arises.
