hoopslover Posted November 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2014 We are crusing NCL and will have 3 days in NO. Since we don't have to dress up on NCL do we need to bring dressier clothes for restaurants in the French Quarter such as coat and tie for men? Langoustine Posted November 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) Depends on where you're going. At Galatoire's (my favorite FQ restaurant) the dress code is business casual for lunch (no shorts or t-shirts). Jackets are required for men starting at 5 p.m. nightly and all day Sunday. At Antoine's (another favorite) jackets are preferred but not required. The Court of Two Sisters is a little more casual (no coat or tie required at any time). There are many much more casual places in the Quarter, of course. NO is a little schizo in that regard: wild drunken debauchery amidst some very formal, sophisticated dining. There are many, many very good restaurants in the FQ where casual attire will be fine, especially during the day. Some places are a bit more discerning at dinnertime. The places mentioned above (Antoine's, Arnaud's, Galatoire's) would be considered upscale, especially for dinner, and my hubby wouldn't go without a jacket. For lunch or brunch, you could probably do business casual - collared shirt for men, no shorts, no sneakers, etc.
