Bsbllmom Posted November 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2014 I have been on the Imagination twice this year and I have no complaints. It is actually the only ship I have been on so I actually loved it. I can see where people say it is dated but it's acceptable. The shows and the live entertainment were great. The comedy show was hilarious. So all in all I have zero complaints. Have a great time!!
SadieN Posted November 4, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Good to hear. We were on her first LA cruise. That was one horrible cruise. Buffet food was lousy. As in they were using up the older, almost rotten stuff the whole cruise (understand the problem at embark), ATD was a horrible experience- the line wrapped around the atrium to ( and sometimes) past the elevator. That was to get a beeper. Another 30 minutes to get a table. Edited November 4, 2014 by SadieN
mabecruzin Posted November 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2014 Hi, 15 of us on the 4 day Imagination cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada. It doesn't take much to make me happy...i'm not working and on a cruise ship, great weather on all for 4 days. I miss the table cloths but the food was great. It's the new menu, where you can upgrade to a better steak/food for $20 per person. We were alright with the regular menu. If you want to email the matri'd for dining issues, the email address is immaitred@carnival.com. His name is Klaudio Vukic nickname chubbie. He was very accommodating to us, placing us in 2 tables by the window and close to the spirit dining entrance as we had senior folks with us. All of us had inside cabins on the Riviera deck-no problems with our steward. I asked him for a corkscrew to open our wines and he let us keep it until our cruise ended. saved us corkage fees. Let me know if you need more info...
omarchs Posted November 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2014 We were on the 4 day in late September and I hope you got a cheap deal since we thought it was horrible. Been on a few Carnival cruises along with cruises on other lines and just wanted a quick getaway before Vegas and didn't have high expectations. Ports were great but the ship should be scrapped. Food was universally bad selection wise and quality. The service was uneven and the ship is very dated and smelly in places. Show lounge had pillars right in the orchestra and you couldn't really see well anywhere upstairs. The cafeteria was the strangest cafe I have been on any ship. It was like they converted a 70's disco that was so dark. We felt like asking the pizza guy if they ever heard of putting any tomato sauce on a pizza they were all so dry. Pool area once again a little dated but the nicest area on the ship. Very spacious compared to newer ships. It just felt like being on a ship out to pasture. Nice to be away, but have had much better Carnival experiences. As is always stated, people have different perspectives so hopefully you will have a better time than us. mohavemommy Posted November 5, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 5, 2014 We recently cruised on the Imagination. I loved the ship itself, but wish I could say the same for the staff. I encountered several of them that were "having a bad day". If you have a choice... go on the Inspiration. The staff there has been wonderful every time we have sailed (5 times in the last 2 years). SadieN Posted November 5, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted November 5, 2014 Thanks everyone. Mom won't even look at that ship again.
SailAway1959 Posted November 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 12, 2014 We're going back on the Imagination in 4 days and chose it because we had such a wonderful time on the ship in February of this year. We thought the service was awesome, the piano bar was a blast, the food was good and the bartenders were generous. We liked it so much that we are repeating the exact same cruise again and we can't wait!
JillySue Posted November 12, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 12, 2014 We were on the Imagination about a month ago and had such an amazing time we booked her again for February!
elliair Posted November 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) Was on her for the first time recently and she was okay. Only thing I have against the Imagination is there are no balconies - only suites. The suites with balconies have no privacy. A cabin with an ocean view is okay for a short 3-day cruise, anything longer I wouldn't do it. We thought the food was good - better than some Princess cruises we've been on. If you go thinking big expectations you'll be let down. Don't think about it, just go and have a fun time. If you like wine, I recommend the wine tour in Ensenada. It was fun and at the first winery, you get a free bottle of wine. Don't turn it in when you board the ship, just keep walking past the liquor table and up the stairs.:p The hotel manager was very nice. We talked to him for a while and told him that we were coming back to Carnival because of their change in the smoking policy. When we went to dinner that night, he gave us a free complimentary bottle of wine. First time ever we got anything like that for free on Carnival. Rare Wanna_Cruize Posted November 19, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 19, 2014 We just got off the Imagination less than a week ago from the 4-night Carnival Live Jewel Concert cruise. It was fantastic, we had a great time. The ship looked fine to us, like an older lady, but well-kept. The food, I thought was great, and we had a great crew. However, we still do assigned time dining, and had no problems with it. We had a great dining crew, and some wonderful food. We normally don't do the shows anymore, and for some reason didn't frequent the casino as much, so we saved some $$ there. Did a lot of chilling on the Serenity Deck, which was great, even though we didn't have very warm weather. We love Inspiration so much I just booked the 2-night special offer for $25/pp at the end of January. Love those platinum perks!
