nyfeds Posted November 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) Does the Silhouette offer internet packages? Costs? I assume I can use my OBC towards internet, yes? Thanks! Edited November 8, 2014 by nyfeds
sunshine nana Posted November 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Yes you can use OBC for internet. We paid about $58 for I think 100 minutes, but you will waste a lot of time just getting into it. There was a coupon in the desk for 10% off. debandbruce Posted November 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2014 yes the internet is hit and miss on the ship. Sometimes I had no issues and other times it was not connecting at all. Considering you are out in open water and on a ship where many others are using it, it could be worse.
cle-guy Posted November 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) Don't plan on handling any "mission critical" tasks with the internet. If you do have real work to get done, look to do so in port when you can find wifi. And when in port, the farther you get wifi away from the pier the better your connection will be, less users is better service. Also be aware that some programs are blocked from use often times, like Skype Remote Desktop Connect etc. Some have luck getting thru to these but other not so much. I logged in once and took 20 minutes (that you pay for) just do download 50 or so email headers. Logging in at 4 am is a decent idea too, fewer users. Here's link to Celebrity FAQ: http://www.celebritycruises.com/frequently-asked-questions#faq515 Silhouette had problems with Internet server during our recent Med cruise. Internet wasn't available for 3-4 days. After IT brought it up, we did not have stable connection. We glad that wifi is available everywhere in Europe and Turkey and we used it to keep up with family.
