New to Cruise Critic/Q re: Mariner of the Seas

I am new to Cruise Critic and hope and I can figure out how to read the replies to this! We are sailing the Mariner of the Seas on 11Dec05. New to RCI but not to cruising. Taking our 21 year old college son. Can I join Meet and Mingle? Anyone have lots of info on Mariner. We'll be on deck nine aft and I'm worried there'll be noise from the Windjammer Cafe up above. Any experience? Also what are the amenities provided in the bathroom? Any bathrobes (balcony stateroom)? Would appreciate any help with info and suggestions.

Yes you both can join M&M. Your son can go to the casino and drink now. He can become a Crown and Anchor member too in his own right. There will be shampoo and body soap in the bathroom. There will be towels too so don't pack towels.

Avidsailor - I wouldn't worry about noise from the Windjammer if you're on Deck 9. I can't recall many complaints, even from passengers on Deck 10. Entire restaurant area is enclosed, so deck noise shouldn't be a problem.

You will hear nothing from above. We recently sailed on Deck 10 Aft right below the Windjammer and the room and view was perfect. Plus being aft there is less hall noise. Feel free to ask more. Our 18 yo son and 12 yo daughter along with my wife and I had an incredible vacation. No complaints other than it was too short and we didn't win in the casino or at Bingo...:~)

I agree, you will hear nothing. We were aft deck 10 and there was abosolutely no noise in our cabin.

Just wanted to suggest that for lots more info on the Mariner, just click on Reviews at the top of this Cruise Critic page, then on the next page that comes up, enter the name of the ship, and then click on member reviews, and you will see lots of very interesting and informative member reviews on the Mariner. It's a good way to find out about all the shipboard activities, as well as info on some of the ports you will be visiting.

Welcome Avidsailor...come on over to the Mariner M&M board. DH and I are cruising on the 11th also as are about 25 others who have already signed up for M&M. Glad to have you and looking forward to meeting you on the board and onboard.

We just sailed on Mariner ,deck nine aft (9669)and there was no noise at all from the Windjammer. I could occasionally hear a baby cry somewhere, but never could place it as it wasn't in the cabins on either side of us.

It was a very convenient location as it was a few steps to the elevators or stairs and then straight up to the Windjammer,pool and sports decks which made it easier to locate my teen grandsons. You may be lucky enough to have Henry as your cabin steward- he is very sweet and helpful- nothing is too much trouble.

Our steward was outstanding and very helpful. We did tip an extra $20 the 1st time we met him, although he would popbibly have been great without it, I am glad we did he earned it. We were able to get robes for us and the kids with no problem.
