Which Ruins?

We have never been to Belize.What are the best ruins to see here?We can't decide which ones to see.Our friend is coming with her four year old daughter.We were thinking of one of the combo river/bus tours to break it up for her so she won't get bored on a 2hr bus ride back and forth.Thank you!

I can tell you of the ruins we visited our last time to Belize were the Xunantunich Ruins and they were magnificent! although we did not have any young children with us. The bus ride wasn't too bad, as the guides are informing everyone of cultural info. most of the way. Had a nice lunch after tour of the grounds, then headed back to port.We may check out Altun Ha next visit.

Lamanai was outstanding but a very long day and the site is still very jungle like. Altun Ha is smaller and a shorter trip, though parts of the bus ride were bumpy. Note that on the river boats you can't leave your seat, there is no roof (so it got quite hot), and you move slowly to see flora and fauna. Neither trip had anyone as young as 4 years on the tour. That being said, both sites are well worth a visit.
