Fans of the Caribbean night menu?

I was tempted to schedule Sabbatini's for Caribbean night, but I'm thinking maybe not. Surely there must be some fans of the Caribbean menu.

I'm thinking this might be a chance to have good, properly prepared Caribbean food - and save $40 to donate to the casino. :)

Of those who enjoyed this menu, what was your favorite appetizers, soups, and entrees?

Here's the menu...

I just got off Caribbean Princess yesterday. I can tell you what my friend and I tried on the night of Caribbean menu:

Appetizers: We both skipped it because there is so much food

Soups: Tobago (good) and Trinidad (very good)

Salads: Martinique (good)

Entrees: Aruba (the past which was very tasty) and St Lucia (the braised lamb shank which was again very tasty).

I can't comment from experiencew but look forward to trying this menu as I love caribbean food. I'll go with the chicken liver empanaditas and also the crabmeat shrimp and collaloo soup (I love greens in general and rarely get to have collaloo).

A frined of ours just returned form Barbados and had flying fish many times - both in restaurants and in the homes of her relatives. I'll have to try it.

We actually enjoyed the Caribbean menu. I had the cold scallop appetizer, we both had the shrimp and crabmeat soup, I had the yellow snapper for an entree and my husband had the lamb shank ---- all were excellent and something a little different. We usually go to Sabbatini's on Italian Night because , surprisingly, we aren't big fans of that one (Sabbatini's does it better, despite the surcharge.)

Please give the Caribbean Night menu a try! DH and I also thought we'd skip this and go to an alternative dining spot, but that would have been a huge mistake. I had the chicken liver empanada, which was fabulous, and the Rack of Pork is now among my favorite Princess entrees. It was divine!

DH and I usually go to an alternative restaurant for the Sailaway dinner, which we find lackluster. There is usually no wait in alternative venues, very few people dining there, and service is always very attentive and personable. Neither of us have real favorites on the Sailaway menu, but each of us enjoys something on each of the other menus that we've experienced.

Bon Appetit! and Bon Voyage!

Chris

Loved the Caribbean night on the Coral, wasn't nearly as good on the CB (just off yesterday). If you don't over eat, run up to the Caribe Cafe after the dining room for a better sampling of some international specialties. Actually I stopped being hungry after the third day! I'm home and still full!

Hey, thanks for all the info. You guys have convinced me to go Caribbean. The menu looks great to me, and it's nice to see these good reviews.

LauraB - yes, I think they offer the steak and chicken every night, in addition to the menu items.

kendon, The Caribe Cafe sounds like a treat. My wife had gastric bypass several years ago and likes to sample lots of little portions, and I SHOULD have the bypass, but ... let's just say that, between the two of us, we eat our fair share. :D

Has anyone tried the flying fish dish? From the menu description, it would probably be my last choice for an entree. It sounds healthy. ;)

I liked the Caribean menu on the Coral because is was so different than the usual Princess menu (which I also liked).

I believe I had the Curacao Soup which was excellent and refreshing. The linked menu doesn't mention chilled, but mine was and served in a cocktail glass with a straw. Everyone at nearby tables commented that they wished they had ordered it. I'm not entirely sure if our menu was slightly different though, so you might ask about this one.

I had the St Barts (rack of pork) for main course, which was very good. Nice flavors and very different. Rice, beans and baked yams were nicely presented.

Tablemate had the Grenada (yellow snapper) which was even better. Some of the best fish I had on the cruise. It also had some nice avocado on top. Again, very interesting sides.

I am a fan of the this menu and wish it was offered on all voyages.
