LTC Posted November 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2014 We disembark in Venice and have evening flight out of Venice. Any suggestions on what to do with our luggage that day. We don't have to be at the airport until 5 pm and don't want to spend the day sightseeing with luggage.:( Any ideas would be appreciated.
agabbymama Posted November 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2014 There is luggage storage in Piazzale Roma (the transportation hub of Venice). Vaporetto office and stop, (to do your sight seeing), bus stop for trip to airport. I'm not sure of the times or prices for the luggage storage, but hopefully someone else will chime in with that. euro cruiser Posted November 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Here's the information on luggage storage at Piazzale Roma: http://trasbagagli.it/en/pg/view/53/luggage-storage-venice-piazzale-roma-airport And here's the bus info from Piazzale Roma to the airport: http://www.atvo.it/allegati/aeroporti/linea_35_dal_26.10.14_al_28.03.15.pdf If you choose to use a taxi, the fixed fare from Piazzale Roma to the airport is €35. littlelulu01 Posted November 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2014 Not sure which ship you will be on. We are on the Jade and have a late flight as well. For $89 usd per person there is a Pauda tour and airport transfer option and for $139pp there is a Venice tour/airport transfer. Both sound like they will still get you to the airport around 1pm so that's still a long wait at the airport. Also sounds like left baggage areas can fill up. That would be a little frustrating to lug everything to the train station only to be told that there is no more room. I am actually hoping that there will be more options for tours/transfers that pop up if the new luggage rules in Venice go into effect. If not we will probably just do the ship tour/transfer and be content with an early airport arrival. We are able bodied but dragging bags around ancient cities was the worst part of traveling in Europe on past visits.

The only time it makes sense to use the train station is if you are departing by train, or are staying at a hotel or B&B in Venice near the station.
