independant land tour - luggage?

Ok, we are thinking about switching our Princess cruisetour for July of 2006 to just a cruise and doing the land part on our own. But one big concern I have is luggage. What do we do with our luggage during the day when we are off doing all kinds of excursions and we have checked out of one lodge and haven't checked into the next one yet. This is a major reason I am considering keeping my cruisetour and not going independent. This will be our first time to Alaska.

Same Question here. We'd like to do the train to Denali but I'm not sure about dragging all the luggage. Will hotels in Anchorage keep your luggage if you stay there leave for a few nights, and then return for your last night?

For our precruise landtour last year we rented a car which gave us much flexibility. I would highly recommend it and then you don't have to worry about your luggage, just take it along. Laurie
