I know there is many posts about WIFI but have not seen any specific about the Breeze or recent experience. Wondering if anyone has been on Breeze recently and can give some experience with WIFI on the ship.

- Was is good service / decent speed?

- Got service pretty much throughout ship / in cabin?

- Pricing ?

I am not looking for feedback on whether using internet on a cruise is a good idea or not Ha! We will relax and enjoy cruise for sure but there is the odd time it would be nice to connect for a short bit.

I will be traveling with three teenagers and like it or not they want to be a bit connected with friends, maybe post a pic on social, etc. as well I would like to check some emails periodically (not every minute but periodically).

My wife and I used the new and improved Wifi on the Breeze last week. As for speed, it still isn't as fast as you are probably used to at home, but it definitely is faster than it used to be. We were pleased with it. While we didn't try it at every possible location on the ship, we did use it several places and I noticed no difference in speed. We also took advantage of free Wifi while in our ports-of-call. Free Wifi is the best Wifi. :-)

I cruised Oct 19 2014 on the breeze. Was slower in my opinion compared to Conquest from Oct 12 and the Glory Oct 25.

I was very frustrated because it was so slow on the Breeze. Was trying to book my air flight home. Gave up and booked my flight at their hard wired computer kiosk. It was slow as well. All 3 ships had trouble with their satellites and the system kept going down.

I don't normally use wifi on the ships. I wifi in port normally

What was the pricing on the new wifi?

Just got off the Breeze Thanksgiving cruise. My 16 y/o daughter has a boyfriend and the thought of no communication for 8 days was not pleasant. So...they have this really cool plan. For the cruise, you can get Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, iMessage, twitter for $25 the entire cruise or $5/day. Clearly the $25 is a better deal. If you want more options, you can pay $16/day (I'm not sure of the cruise long price) and get access to email and limited internet. The catch is only one device can be logged in at a time.

The wifi was pretty good. We had lots of wind so that was a factor sometimes and some spots in the cabin (deck 2) were dead but she (and her 14 y/o and 12 y/o sisters) were able to use it most of the time with no problem.

I was really excited to have this option because I originally thought I would be paying $150 for 8 hours worth which was obviously not going to happen.

Hope this helps.

I also got the social internet plan for $25 (entire cruise) and it worked well. For iMessage, you can only text, attachments are blocked. I was able to use Instagram and Facebook to stay in touch with the family. The most expensive plan, which allows you to stream movies, is $99 for the entire trip. There's another middle of the road plan for $60 which allows surfing the web, email and streaming music but not video. Reception is pretty good, casino had a dead spot as well as some of the upper decks. However, you can easily solve the problem by moving around the ship a bit. If you do run into bad weather, you'll notice uploads are severely impacted.

Yes...airplane mode on, wifi on.

Just remember that your clock will be set to ship time (Miami time) once you do this. If you use other wifi while in a port city, your clock will change to local time which could have an impact on your getting back to ship on time if you aren't aware.

Omg I could cry. I just got off Conquest where I spent a whopping $149 on internet, solely checking/updating my Facebook. Come to find out, Breeze has a $25 social media plan?! Wow! We had a family member who was dying, and who eventually did die on our sailing, so we needed to stay in touch. Plus, with it being a holiday and all, I wanted to have contact with everyone. Facebook was our point of contact. Next cruise is definitely on the Breeze!

Sorry, OP, that I do not have anything valuable to add to this thread.

I think the clock only updates when you turn on cellular and not WiFi. Remember something about this being announced by Wee Jimmy, guess someone brought to his attention.

I never took my phone off airplane mode. Was too scared to get international roaming charges. But the time definitely changed when I used wifi in Curacao. It changed back once I used Carnival wifi again on the ship.

Thanks for clarifying.

The two of us who took our phones out of airplane mode in Puerto Rico had our time switched and it did not correct until we were back in Miami. The two who did not use their phones remained on ship time. We ended up using a watch the rest of the time to stay on schedule.

Just so I am clear as I am traveling with three teenagers, we can't use the plan at same time?

I was kinda hoping that we might be able to use iMessage or one that is included in Social plan to maybe communicate with each other if needed?

Appreciat the clarificaiton on this. I thought I read someonewhere the Social plan also included WhatsApp which if it did we all have on our phones so could use to text each other while on the ship if needed to reach each other ... but if only one device can you plan at a time I guess that is not possible?

Is the wifi social media plan available on the Breeze only? I'm sailing on the Sunshine in February, and want to know my wifi options. I would totally buy a package for $25-50, but if it's 3x that for overall access, I'll just use free wifi in port.

It sounds from this thread that the new Internet plans which were being tested only on the Freedom two weeks ago are now being tested on the Breeze as well -- anyone know if they're being tested on any other ships?

I'm very glad to head they're on the Breeze - when they showed up on the Freedom only at first instead of the Breeze and Magic (where they'd been tested before), I worried that ships would need a dry dock for new equipment, but it sounds like that's not the case.

To answer yonich: I've only heard about the Freedom (and now through this discussion thread, the Breeze) so far. These plans are being "tested", according to some Carnival people. What that means, who knows - they've been testing high speed plans on one or two ships now off and on for over two years. But they *did* officially announce the new higher speed internet last month and claimed they would be rolling it out across all Carnival Corp ships fairly quickly.

What does that mean? Your guess is as good as mine. I wouldn't assume the plan will be there on the Sunshine in February, but it *might* be. (I wouldn't even make that assumption on the Freedom or Breeze even as soon as a sailing next week -- they've stopped testing these plans without warning several times before…) Don't plan on it, but be happy if it's there.

Yeah...no. Unfortunately. :( So I would log on, text my daughter and then log off. She was on it most of the time which was problematic. When she finally logged back out, I would read her text and then text back. The plans are linked to your folio # so maybe get 2? Still cheaper than what it could've been.

Just curious how you sign up for one of these packages?

Do you have to go to Information Desk or something like that to sign up or do you simply try to connect to WIFI?

I assume there is some mechanism that when you try to connect it asks for a credit card or does it go on your sail and sign card?

Finally, I am thinking if it is available to get the Value Plan as it appears to allow internet and email as well as social plan. Is Value any faster than social as premium says 3 times faster than value.

Appreciate everyone's information. Glad to hear these plans are being offered and appear to sound like they work fairly well.

They have flyers in the Fun Times and they are also posted in the Fun Hub areas. You basically go to login.com once you are connected to Carnival wifi and from there you either a) choose a plan or b) log in to an existing plan with your folio #. The charge goes on your Sail&Sign card.

The key, though, if you are sharing the plan is to log out. Otherwise you will see a message saying another device is using the plan.

I don't know about the speed difference between plans. Sorry.
