Cruise Director on QM2

Can anyone tell me if Ray Rouse is still the Cruise Director aboard the QM2 and if Brett and the other funny guy are still calling the bingo.

Thanks

Kevin

He was in May 2004, then in November Brian (?) was the cruise director - a transplant from Princess.

He was there last month, still giving his little talk on tv on how to mark 10 out of 10 on the customer survey.

David.

The man from Princess gave that talk also. He told us he was doing the Canada and Carribean Cruises last year (after the crossings ended) from Nov. He gave the impression that Ray would do all the crossings.

What was Ray's former career? He mentions it frequentely but I cannot remember.

Jeanne - Could have been from anywhere in the UK, Counties/cities have their own police service. As to how policing is in Britain, possibly the best comment is "no comment"

David.

We were on QE2 with an English born and bred lady who told us he had worked there. Apparently they got along famously. But who knows.

I like your police shows better than the American Ones (MI5/Prime Suspect) – not that any of them UK or Hollywood are realistically based well maybe Law and Order.

There are more than a few people living in NYC who idolize the British Police because the patrolmen do not carry guns.

The Princess transplant is Brian Price, posts 2 & 3. He was CD on our WB crossing at the end of May. IMO, he'd rank in the lower echelon......very "plastic"!

Did you ever watch his 6am Host Chats? We were so underwhelmed by him. We would watch him shake hands and greet passengers while looking over their shoulders at someone else.

Someone said during a cocktail party "Come back Ray, all is forgiven."

Sorry, correction to above post. I meant there was a cruise director on QE2 7 or 8 years ago called Brian Price.

Brian was with Cunard in the 70's. he then sailed for many years with Holland America and then went back to Cunard in the early 90's. He went to Princess about seven years ago and is now back with Cunard... QM2.

I must admit I have not really liked the Cruise Director I have met. Do we really need them? Obviously the entertainers need a manager but why do we have to meet them? On the whole cruise directors insult my intelligence and dress in inappropriate glittery suits. Don’t get me started on the “Give excellent for everything” pitch.

The only exception I would make is for Andy Dinsdale. I thought he was excellent. He was always dressed in ships officer uniform and introduced the entertainment with decorum. His only joke was “The casino is still open for your donations”. Unfortunately I have not heard anything about him for a few years.

Best wishes, Stephen.

Stephen,

There are a lot of excllent Cruise Directors in the industry. No doubt about it. Professional and well trained people who know exactly what they are doing and do it well. Unfortunately there are some that shouldn't be in the job in the first place!
