cowgrlkirby Posted December 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2014 OK so I have a friend that booked a cruise with a girlfriend...well...she is not his girlfriend anymore  He bought her out on her half of the cruise and has a friend that is willing to take her place. what does he need to do to change the person in his cabin to the new guest? We sail in 45 days, is it to late to do anything? He did buy the insurance< would he have to cancel and rebook and if he does have to do that can he rebook and get the same room and do it all at the same time? So many questions...sorry about this guys I'm just a little anxious.
firemanbobswife Posted December 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) He will need to call Carnival if he booked direct or his TA if he used one. They are the only ones that can answer this question based on which fare he booked under. Have him do it immediately. springs741 Posted December 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2014 Firemanbobswife if correct. Call Carnival or your TA. It has to be done to make the change anyway and there are too many factors not listed in your post for anyone to give you accurate information. SadieN Posted December 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2014 If they didn't book Early Saver then the new companion pays a $50 fee.
k2excursion Posted December 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Sadie is correct. $50 fee for a name change, except for Early Saver and Pack & Go bookings, or any special bookings that don't allow any kind of changes. Early Saver does not allow name changes. Under the ES rules, they would have to cancel the 1 person (not the entire booking), pay the penalty for that person, then book the new person into the room. Having said that, some people have reported getting Carnival to do name changes for free, even under Early Saver. This is an unbelievable, blatant violation of Carnival's own rules, but they have done it for a few people, so you can try. Expect to be told no, but it's worth a shot.
