The credit for the baby powder tip goes to Franca.
Jane,
The best tip that I gave out :)
Franca
Was the life boat drill published in the Compass or did he just happen to see it? Looks like it would be interesting to watch.
No, it's not posted, but you'll know it's happening if you are on board. Lots of announcements and noise. They conduct quite a few drills on some port days.

Really enjoying your review. I'm reading while using the wifi at Paradise Beach in Cozumel, one of our two port stops on the current Explorer cruise. I'm pleased to say it's just a lovely ship with the nicest crew. Hospitality is about the best we have experienced. You will have a great Christmas cruise!

That's good to hear! I was a little worried that things would change once they got to Florida. We've taken the Explorer many times out of Bayonne. Enjoy Cozumel!! We'll be there in a couple of weeks. Going to Nachi Cocum.

CL was once again, very quiet. We chatted with a young couple from Mississippi who were new to cruising. We said good-bye and see you tomorrow to Joseph and Diego!

Dinner tonight was good, but I don't particularly like he last night menu. So I ordered the salmon from the alternative menu. Kasa got it from the salt free area and it was really good! There has been so much sodium in the food I've eaten.....I feel like I have blown up like a balloon! Key Lime Pie was for dessert.

Kasa and his assistant have been wonderful to us. We will be able to sit with them again next week! Yay!!

After dinner we had to go by a few things in the shops, then get our pictures. We also finished up our internet minutes Then on to bed. Yay......these are not ours!

Saturday ~ December 6, 2014 ~ San Juan

We got up really early this morning because the dining room closes at 8:30 and we had to move cabins. Sure did love this balcony! We wouldn't have anything near this nice the next week.

So we get down to breakfast.....no special dining room today, so we sat at a large table in the regular MDR. The service was a lot slower.

When we finished breakfast, I went up to Deck 7 to check with our new cabin steward, Maureen.....and she already had our cabin ready!! So we gathered up all our stuff and started moving. It only took a couple of trips. We had to move from deck 8 to deck 7.....just a little forward...starboard side. The cabin stewards would move things for you, but we prefer to move it all ourselves. First of all.....they have enough to do. And we can do it faster. It was real easy to unpack this time. I think our cabin number was 7580....another E1. But this time the balcony had that obstructed view by the lifeboat cover and the balcony was tiny compared to the previous one. Also the bed in the new cabin was not comfortable. That was taken care of later, though.

We had to meet at 10:00 in the Safari Club, but we went a little early and found most everyone was in the Schooner Bar. There was a large group (144) that were consecutive cruisers this week. They forgot about us and we got no notifications about this. I went to Guest Services the last day and they quickly sent what we needed but we missed the meeting about it. No worries......we knew what to do.

We got to be first in line being led off and back on.......we left the ship right on time. We followed a Guest Services officer down to immigration.

There was a long line behind us.

It didn't take too long and soon we were back on board and could do and go anywhere we wanted. It was about 10:30 when we got back on and we went to the CL to read and have some quiet time. They had a very nice lunch for us in the MDR and it was well attended. John opted out of the lunch, but I went. Very nice menu..... I had a delicious cheese soufflé, but they had steak and fish as well.

I passed on dessert and met John in the WJ and we had frozen yogurt there.

Welcome on board to all the new folks!!

Jane-

I am really enjoying another of your reviews. The last few i read helped me get through waiting for our Allure cruise. I really enjoy reading about all the off the beaten path beaches you visit. They look so beautiful. Oasis is our next cruise but one time in the future we might go southern carib. and I will have great ideas. Thanks for writing this and continued happy travels!

Thanks again, Everyone!

Had a little rest time after lunch.

The roll call for this cruise wasn't as active as last cruise. I went to the Sky Bar at 3:30 as arranged on our thread, to see if anyone would show up. I was there for just a little while when Art showed up. He had read some of my reviews and said they were very helpful. Soon his partner, Jeff, showed up and we had a nice conversation. It was fun talking with them. They were the only ones that came. They also like to hang out in the CL in the evenings, so I knew I would see them again. Nice guys!!

Usually the demographics change quite a bit from week to week, but so far, this week seemed to be about the same as last week. There were a good many Puerto Ricans on board, quite a few Europeans, especially German, and very few kids....yay!

Went to the CL a little early. It was crowded. we sat with two brothers and one of their wives. The brothers were very talkative, but the wife must have been very tired or either had too much to drink because she slept! Or maybe we were just that boring!!

Muster Drill at 8......we had to go outside this time, but as soon as we checked in, they let us go inside to the theater so John wouldn't have to stand so long. That was nice.

As soon as muster was over, we went to Chops for dinner. There were quite a few people there tonight and because of muster, they all came at the same time. Dinner seemed to take forever. They also seemed to be turning people away at the door. The staff seemed to be in some sort of chaos all evening......running all over the place.

In any case, our meal was very good......it just took a very long time. It was very tasty as you can tell!!

Of course we finished up with the cheesecake. We split that.

Even though it was very late when we finished dinner......we walked through the casino. No luck for either of us. The machines were spinning awfully fast for the first night......not a good sign!

Sunday ~ December 7, 2014 ~ St Thomas

So it was back to St. Thomas again, which was fine with us. We were supposed to go to Tortola today, but the pier there was still under construction.

Nice sail in this morning.

We had breakfast at a large table today in the special area. There were quite a few people utilizing this room today. All the wait staff here were new. One guy had just come from the Explorer! Only one waiter was the same as last week and he still tried to give us a menu!! They are absolutely so puzzled that we don't need menus, even after two weeks on board!

We decided to .....once again......head out to Secret Harbour. We had just had such a nice day there. We were the only ship in port today and that made it so nice. The only problem was.....we were docked all the way at the beginning of the pier and had to walk all the way through Havensight to get to the taxis. That's OK.....we took it slow. We got a taxi easier today and it filled up faster. Our taxi driver agreed to come back for us in the afternoon!

Secret Harbour was not crowded at all today. We got a nice spot and thoroughly enjoyed the day here. The waitstaff was not working the beach today.....so I was it!! Love the bottomless sodas they have. Also had to have a delicious Bushwhacker today. We got hamburgers for lunch.

The pelicans entertained us again and the water was so nice. Clean and clear. So nice!

Remember I said how our bed in this new cabin was not comfortable. It sagged. So we told our cabin steward that this bed was not as comfortable as the one we had last week. So just like that......we had an egg crate and the bed was much more comfortable! She was so pleased that she was able to correct that problem. Maureen was great to us all week!

Dinner was nice. We had a nice table in Kasa's section. You know you've arrived when they put the menus in your chairs so no one else can sit there!!

Here is a dessert I tried that I haven't had in a long time. It was good!

Would you please go into a little more detail what all is expected on last day/first day B2B cruises? For example, with my ignorance, I did not think you had to get off the ship. See why I need your input. :p

Yes.....you have to get off the ship.....but it's not a big deal. All you need is your passport and your old and new Sea Pass Cards. You will be led off by someone in Guest Services.....walk by an immigration officer down in the terminal and walk right back on. It hardly ever takes more than 30 minutes. We've been on cruises in San Juan where you didn't have to get off the ship. Now those were the days!!! They will have a meeting on the next to last day (usually) to let you know exactly what happens, so no worries. You just have to check back in on the ship with the new sea pass cards and get your picture taken for those.

After reading about your B2B adventures, we've booked 2 cruises from San Juan next January on the Adventure. I can't wait. It's kind of been a dream of mine to do a B2B. Thanks for all the information you've provided through your reviews. I'll keep watching for them!
