I have a rolling duffel and carry on bag.

 

The backpack was a normal sized school backpack, and my laptop bag is only about 14x10x2 inches. Basically you need to be able to fit the bags on your lap or be able to fit under the seats on an airplane to be manageable on the bus. Anything larger and they'll want you to "check" it in the box truck until you get to the airport.

Thanks - I'm glad you found it helpful! We're booked on an early Jan '16 cruise on the same ship - different itinerary, I'll post a trip report pretty soon after I'm home. I'll even try to add in some pictures to spice it up :)
