travelnut1 Posted December 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2014 If I have already pre-paid Auto Tips, Excursions and a bar set up how much of a hold will they want for a 15 day cruise? Is the amount held then used to pay what is purchased or do they want the hold and then still have to pay twice temporarily? Thank you :) Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Thank you :) Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app The hold is only to guarantee that there is enough funds to pay the bill. The hold is released and the bill is sent to the CC. No double billing or money held. Basically it is a pre authorization for the money. Most hotels and rental companies do the same thing.
garycarla Posted December 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2014 You indicated credit. If truly a credit card, it should be no problem, unless your one and only CC has a low credit limit. If you are talking about a debit card...that is TOTALLY different.
ncklhaus Posted December 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2014 We have always prepaid everything, including tips, drinks, dining and lots of OBC but still have to give a credit card. We were told it is a hold of $100 per person, 2 adults and 1 child = $300 hold. So for you it will be a $200 hold that will "fall off" after the cruise if you don't use it. They will continue to add more holds as you use more.
