Out to sea! Posted December 30, 2014 #51 Share Posted December 30, 2014 lol. Ain't that a trip! You don't even sail Carniva. Hey maybe that's why. We always have one booked. And that is why you don't have any specials. It would make no business sense whatsoever to offer a discount to someone who has already swallowed the bait, hook, line, and sinker. Out to sea! Posted December 30, 2014 #52 Share Posted December 30, 2014 The $11 cruises are now $110 and I tried to mock book one for $139 and it said no rates available so who knows what is going on. Maybe the $11 price was an error and they are trying to fix it? It would make no business sense whatsoever to offer a discount to someone who has already swallowed the bait, hook, line, and sinker. I could go with that if my situation was always the case, but it's not. Plenty of people have reported that they receive offers while already booked or recently back from a trip. Carnival claims the offers are random. There's been a ton of threads that show your absolute conclusion is not absolutely true.
moviejunki Posted December 30, 2014 #54 Share Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) The sale for the super cheap cabins was a casino offer and you had to book by 12/18. We managed to book 2 balcony cruises for $120 pp and get $100 OBC plus casino cash. I was surprised by the offer because we had not cruised since 2012! Those prices were way too cheap to pass up. PAPERBKWRITER Posted December 30, 2014 #55 Share Posted December 30, 2014 DW and I have 111 days and 15 cruises with Carnival and we get crap. We usually each get 2k casino point each cruise but we only get past guest or VIFP offers or a $25 coupon casino credit for a future cruise. Happy for those getting the offers and free-bees but I'm going to start looking more closely at the other cruise lines.(We have 76 days on others) Sometimes their promotions do more harm than good. samoan_bulldozer Posted December 30, 2014 #56 Share Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) My girlfriend and I usually spend about a grand on board and accumulate ~1500 slot points and play table blackjack. I usually play two spots if the table isn't full. We have had two free cruise offers. We took a free 8 Day Freedom Extended Balcony in September and were offered a free 8 day Breeze Balcony in our offers once we returned. Two in a row for us is nice and is keeping us away from RCL. Our Breeze sails out on Saturday. Interested to see if anything awaits us on our return. Will keep forum updated. **edit Also wanted to disclose that we were told at the Casino Cage when sailing on the Freedom that due to us booking a free offer, we were ineligible for any casino cash, fun chips, gift baskets, or other common Casino Comps. I agree with cruizinisthebest, I always have one booked and I got the free offer back in July and had just gotten off the ship that Feb. I don't think any of us know how they decide to dish out the offers.
mouche Posted December 30, 2014 Author #58 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Maybe the $11 price was an error and they are trying to fix it? Maybe, but I don't think so as they have had these offers before with rates as low as $28, $50 and free. I think we missed that small window of opportunity.:D
jsmac3 Posted December 30, 2014 #59 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Was it a promo code? If so, perhaps you can post it in a new thread for others who may be visiting those ports soon. Sorry, no promo codes . . . just drop downs for Bonaire & Aruba listing excursions . . . to leave the drop down either "book now" or "not interested". 20% discount only showing in this window. Disconnections Posted December 30, 2014 #60 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Maybe the $11 price was an error and they are trying to fix it? To those who saw the picture I uploaded in another thread or read the actual promotion, it is clear that the cruise fare was not $11. It was $11 per person, per day. By them advertising "from $11," it is nothing more than click bait to have people search for cruises. There was a single 4 day M-F cruise in January with this rate with extremely low occupancy. The second lowest was $20 for this promotion.

LOL!!! $11 per person per day was a GOOD deal too. But I do know that the one I was going to book WAS $90per person and I did a mock booking completely and it gave me a total for final payment and as you said a couple of the $20 ones did as well. Oh well moot point now as I missed out, but they are still showing some good special offers with reduced rates just not as good as $90.
TrqoisWtrs Posted December 30, 2014 #62 Share Posted December 30, 2014 If you see one of those great deals, just put it hold. That's what I did yesterday. Decided to go for it and so today was able to book it at the great price I got for a 7 day balcony solo on Splendor! :D Plus used my Verizon points for an additional $100 off. And I got the pop up for the discount on excursions, so saved an additional $15 there for a Coz trip.

Unlike the airline industry, cruise lines and hotels are not legally bound by the DOT to honor mistake rates/fares/prices if leaving or returning to a US port/hotel is in the US. If mistake rates interest you, FlyerTalk and ExtremeHotelDeals will help you out, but you have to be fast. Don't contact the hotel unless they contact you first. Thanks, but just to be clear I don't think anyone thought the TOTAL price for the cruise was $11 of course taxes and port fees would be added, I know they were added to the other really low fares. But like I said moot point now:)

FloridaGram Posted December 30, 2014 #66 Share Posted December 30, 2014 We were on several cruises with people who got these really low or free fares. They were related to how much time they spend in casino. If you spend a lot of time there that may be why you get these special offers.

Could be, but this has been discussed many times over on this site and there have been many who have never spent time in the casino and they still get special offers, my last cruise mate included. She has the special offers now and on our last cruise in Feb 2014 her S&S bill was less than a $100, she does not gamble. I don't think any of us know how they decide who gets the special offers. Just my opinion though:)

FloridaGram Posted December 30, 2014 #70 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Thanks! That gives me hope because I never go in the casino either. We did 2 back to backs within one month and the first weeks we spent too much in the spa so the next 2 weeks we spent hardly anything. I am assuming you all are talking about going into the Carnival website and logging in to your account and then check my special offers. I had never done that before so thanks for the info to start checking there!

HollandAvery Posted December 31, 2014 #72 Share Posted December 31, 2014 I have never gotten any special offers...which is really a shame because I'm one of those people who if I see a good deal I will certainly try and find a way to make it happen. If I were to get a 'free' cruise that left from Florida or some other state other than Texas, I'd find a way to get there. Now, without a special offer I don't think I'll be leaving my home port for a long long time. New Orleans will probably be the farthest...unless I get lucky and can afford the cruise to Alaska we've been dreaming of...flights are just so dang expensive
