wangy26 Posted January 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2015 5 of us will be sailing from San Juan on March 1 (departing at 8:30 PM) on RCI Adventure of the Sea. We will arrive a day earlier on Feb 28. We will stay at a downtown hotel on Feb 28 and would like to visit rainforest on March 1st before getting on the cruise. We are not quite sure how to visit the rainforest and would like your suggestions. Option A: Hire some private tour guide to pick us up at the hotel and take us to the rainforest and then drop us at the cruise pier. This probably would be the easiest but maybe expensive. Do you have any ideas how much this option will cost us and do you have any recommendation for a good tour guide? Option B: Rent a car at the airport when we arrive on Feb 28 and drive to hotel in downtown (parking over night there). Drive from hotel to El Yunque on our own on March 1 and return the car. There is some uncertainty about this option. 1. How difficult is it to drive from airport to downtown and from downtown to El Yunque? Is the road well marked and easy to drive? We don't know spanish. Is it easy to drive within the rainforest? 2. What are the good rental companies in San Juan? I don't want to deal with any company that try to sell you all unnecessary items and inflate the cost. What are the average rental cost for a day? 3. Will my US GPS work in San Juan? Thanks you very much for your help!
ozarkmama Posted January 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2015 We used Ellis last November and liked him so well we have another tour booked in 3 weeks when we go back to PR for a week. Send him an email, he is really good about getting back with you. He will also customize your rour. This is the one we did. http://puertorico.en.craigslist.org/trv/4819807573.html
