I love J Crew shorts. They come in all different lengths and very comfortable.

I like the Bermuda shorts at American eagle I'm only 5'3 and they come just above my knee and they are super soft cotton and have side pockets

My advice is to learn how to hem by hand - it's a lost art, I think. My mom taught me when I was very young and at 5'4" (5'3" now), I always have to hem things. I do it by hand because I'm too lazy to get the sewing machine out, thread the needle and bobbin, and... well you get the picture. So much easier to do by hand, IMO. :D

Now that I'm married to a shorty (5'5"), I'm always hemming his stuff (isn't he lucky to have a "seamstress" so handy).

So if you have a choice between too short or too long, choose the too long and hem it to where you want it.
