KMB2014 Posted January 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2015 This probably sounds silly, but I want to go to the beach and sit in the shade. (My husband and I have very fair skin so we need to be careful.) What is the best beach for us to go to while we are in Roatan? We don't need (or want) bells and whistles, just a peaceful place to enjoy the beach in the shade. It would be nice if there were some amenities like bathrooms and a place to get a drink. We also would like it to be as inexpensive as possible. Any suggestions?

First if you are docking at Mahogany Bay be the first people off the ship and on the sand at the beach.. easy peasy. It is free. If you are docking in Coxen hole any beach you go to is going to require a taxi. While all the sand is free, much beach can only be accessed through a resort..a day pass is needed. The two exceptions I know of are Half Moon Bay in West End and West Bay Beach. Half Moon Bay is easy to find. West Bay beach one need walk down the road between Bananarama and Paradise Beach Club to the free access. Many places are offing chairs, some with umbrellas. Some are listed on web sites and some are not. It may be worth your while to walk the beach to find a shaded space. Another option is to go to West End and take the water taxi to West Bay..one's options are easier to see from the water. There is usually plenty of shade at Half Moon Bay but I have no idea who one needs to pay for chairs. My guess is someone will let you know if you decide on that route. Hmm I am not sure how peaceful either one of this options are going to be. I s'pose such things are all relative. :0)
SunshineCruiser24 Posted January 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2015 Go to Little French Key. Lots of big shady trees there. Plus a yummy lunch.
