Majesty vs Spirit - thoughts

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have been on the Spirit a couple of times in the last 2 years going back a little further we did trips on the Destiny. I have booked to go on the Majesty in Apr 15. Was just wondering how this ship matched up against the Spirit. If anyone has been on both which do you rate better? Thomsons are stating the Majesty is now of a Platinum grade although the website pictures of the cabins don't look great. We have booked a deck 8/9 outside.

I have been on both Spirit and Majesty.

Majesty is more spacious and I prefer her bar areas.

The buffet on Spirit is much better IMO. Better laid out, more comfortable and modern though I haven't been on Majesty since the new buffet was installed.

I much preferred the Majesty MDRs and food in Majesty's MDRs to that on Spirit as I found service very slow on Spirit.

Staff on both were equally friendly but I got to know Majesty staff better.

I would recommend booking a plus cabin on Majesty as the standard cabins are very small. Have a look on the Deck Plans as I think some cabins on Decks 8/9 may have lifeboats obstructing your view.

I would travel on either ships again depending on the itinerary and price.

we found everything so much better on the spirit, better food, entertainment, staff and bars. Don't go for deck 9 very noisy from above with trolleys going too and from the buffets, we found the food on the majesty lukewarm, staff including the entertainment team and cd quite rude, (may 2013) in fact we ate better off the ship, reviews had improved but not so much over christmas. woud pick any ship over the majesty. But that is only my opinion some love the ship some hate it, its called a marmite ship

We have done Majesty once and Spirit twice and were in the standard inside cabins. Loved them both. They are different of course, but we love cruising and the cabin is not our priority, and as for the rest of the ships, plenty of places to find a spot just right for you.

Never replied either as never been on the spirit but been on the Maj once after numerous cruises on the Dream and really enjoyed it.

Phew, thank heavens for that, and to the few others here who can recommend the Majesty... I had the choice of Spirit or Majesty for April & plumped for the Majesty solely on the basis of old UTube clips that made the Majesty casino look the biggest :D... Of course after booking when reading reviews I tend to fixate on the bad ones.

Majesty's new covered aft buffet looks to be an improvement.

Does anyone know if the old Café Royal buffet is still fully operational in addition to the new one, or does the San Marco replace it?

I'm sure you will love her Stevio. When we were on in October, they used both buffets at lunchtime and just the new one at night. iI was nicely laid out with tablecloth and flowers, so we used it we few times at night. We prefer the buffet as we are not big eaters.

Don't take any notice of old reviews, they are misleading. We love Majesty and are going on her again in June.

Thanks for that prompt information Linda... Like you Mrs Stevio is not a big eater & we prefer buffets... However I prefer them as if I liked the food, I can always go round again. Or would do if Mrs Stevio didn't keep such a close eye on me.

I really have to watch the intake next week as I haven't lost the pounds from Christmas yet. Tins of biscuits and chocolates!! Will need to find the track round the Dream decks again like I did on Spirit.

We have been on both .

We liked the Spirit but loved the Majesty!

We found the food in MDR on the Majesty far far better than on the Spirit .

Liked the feel of the ship better too on the Majesty, liked the bars and the pools .

We were on deck 7 ( prom deck) outside plus cabin and it was great .

Would def recommend a 'plus ' cabin on the majesty for the little extra it costs as the standard ones are snug.

Would book either again for itinerary but we much preferred the Majesty overall 😄😄😄
