Paisley12 Posted August 27, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2005 Just checking... going on the Insignia - Athens to Rome - 5/1/06.....Flying from Philadelphia. 1) Do you need visas for Italy and Greece when visiting from a cruise ship? 2) Do you need to carry your passport along when leaving a ship? 3) WHEN do you lock or not lock your suitcases? 4) Should I just get the plastic ties instead of the TSA locks? First time cruise ... I know I'll have many more questions. I've been reading the posts and have read some great tips. Thanks for any help! Hi, 1) No visas needed for those counties 2) The ship will pick up your passport when you board and keep it until you are ready to disembark at your last port.. 3) We never lock our suitcases until they have been checked and then we put the plastic ties on them that we bring with.. You will get answers to all your questions on this board or yahoo..so ask away!! Jan *****
Jane110 Posted August 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2005 For #2, the passport question....... I'll add, that you should always have a photocopy of your passport kept in a piece of luggage that's separate from the original. In the event of a lost/stolen passport your life will be simpler if you have a photocopy of it. On shore excursions, bring that photo-copy with you for shopping tax refund forms. Jancruz Posted August 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2005 Thanks Jane for adding that..it is most important to carry a copy..and to leave one at home with a family member.. Jan *****
lcand1923 Posted August 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2005 Agree with all of the above, but would like to add something. Photocopy your airline or e-ticket and carry that with you, also. We needed to show the return flight ticket somewhere for the tax refund form - can't remember where. We also needed it another time when, the airline had fouled up the return flight reservation.
